So many really highly respected athletes all in one place…it was impressive. I have missed the sounds of a full gym this year during our times we were not allowed to play and I am thankful we all had an opportunity to evaluate and enjoy our time in the gym today. I really want to thank the athletes who performed at this event. I was very impressed with all of you and very happy to watch you do the sport you love. Let’s talk about the middles and right side hitters I saw on court four this morning.
64 – Grace Kremer (2022, MB, Skutt Catholic)
Grace is a 6’1″ MB from Skutt Catholic who was on the floor digging things up and hit really well and really accurately. She can block all over the place, she transitions well, and she hits really hard. This is a really great player, one of the best on this court, and I cannot wait to see what she does in her next school season.
86 – Emily Oldenburg Emily Oldenburg 5'10" | MB Mead | 2022 NE (2022, MH, Mead)
Emily is a 5’10” MH from Mead, Nebraska who had 1.5 KPS, 14 total blocks, .5 DPS, and 7 service aces. Emily jumps well and has a great work ethic. She can attack off both feet and is quick in her plays. She gets good touches and follows the ball to the conclusion of each play.
42 – Sophie Fitch (2022, MB, Doniphan-Trumbull)
Sophie is a 5’10” MB from Doniphan-Trumbull who had 4.4 KPS, 20 aces with a 95.3% serve efficiency, 33 total blocks, and 3.7 DPS. Wow! My notes say that. They also say she is quick, athletic, can jump for miles, great court awareness, and exhibits great effort and enthusiasm. She can transition from block to attack easily and often. Great player!
68 – Chloe Largent Chloe Largent 6'1" | RS AC/GC | 2022 State IA (2022, RS, AC/GC)
Chloe is a 6’1″ RS from AG/GC who had 5.7 KPS, 25 total blocks, a team-high 2.8 DPS, and 37 aces with an 87.9% serve efficiency in her junior school season. She is a killer! She also has a great platform, is really scrappy, great pancake digs, and can hit on both pins with great slides. She is great as a hitter or on defense, she really can play anywhere.
81 – Monica Mirembe (2022, MH, Ankeny Centennial High School)
Monica is a 5’11” MH from Ankeny Centennial High School who had 1.6 KPS, and a team-high 71 blocks. Monica is smooth and athletic. She is a really smart player with great court awareness, really good at serve/receive, and can really knock an opponent out with how hard she hits. Very strong player, great transitions, great blocker, and a versatile hitter. A great player to look at for the next level.
