This is especially true for the senior class who have been had to face obstacles during their junior and senior year. Thankfully, college coaches have continued to purse those who have committed their high school careers to volleyball. Here are a few of the most recent commitments from Minnesota for the class of 2021.
Jolie Stecher Jolie Stecher 6'0" | MB Stewartville | 2021 State MN – Stewartville: Augustana
The dynamic Stecher finally has signed on to play in college. At 5’11’’ the middle hitter has been a top recruit since the Tigers won the 2019 State championship for AA. She had another incredible high school season and would have had a strong possibility of a title repeat. She was named to the All-Conference team. Finding a way to contribute and be recognized at a top program can be a challenge unless you have outstanding skills like those of Stecher. She would make a great outside for the Vikings but we anticipate they will use her speed and blocking power in the middle. She plans to purse a nursing degree. We anticipate Jolie being integrated into the line-up early on in her freshmen year.
Madison Genz – Brainerd: St Catherine’s University
We are happy to see the Brainerd, senior sign on to play in college. The self-proclaimed competitor is a fundamentally sound player who has played outside and defensive specialist. Genz had an stellar senior year with 122 kills, almost 200 digs, and a dozen ace serves. Her talent doesn’t stop at volleyball; Madi is a top sprinter for Brainerd and will be able to do volleyball and track in college. This type of ambition is part of what makes her such a elite athlete. We anticipate Genz being used as an six-rotation player for the college.
