First, we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
The North Pudget Sound district features high schools from the 3A and 4A classes and the Cascade portion has seven of those. Some of their players with the greatest upside are:
Dyvhon Fonoti – Outside Hitter – Senior – Jefferson
Dyvhon Fonoti showed some intriguing potential in 2019, a season in which Jefferson was subpar, with only one victory in six district matches. At 5’6”, Fonoti is probably undersized to play at the net, but her technical skills allow her to do so. She proved that by registering 139 kills in 2019 and reaching double digits in nine of the Raiders’ 11 matches. She also led the team in digs (72) and ranked second in passes (165).
Alisia Silverthorn – Outside Hitter/Right Sider – Junior – Auburn Riverside
Alisia Silverthon seems poised for a bigger role with Auburn Riverside next season after the departure of some high-regarded seniors. The 5’9” outside hitter certainly showed he’s capable of making that leap, combining a strong game at the net with good physical and technical skills, which have been refined in beach volleyball courts.
Dyvhine Fonoti – Setter – Senior – Jefferson
Dyvhon’s twin sister Dyvhine is also a prominent member of Jefferson’s team acting as the team’s setter. The 5’5” prospect, who’s also a track and field student-athlete, did a fantastic job in coordinating the team’s offense with 312 assists registered during the season to an average of 8.4 per set. She also did a good job at the net with ten blocks and in the backcourt with 34 digs.
