First, we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
The North Pudget Sound district features high schools from the 3A and 4A classes and the Cascade portion has seven of those. Their three best players are:
Krisee Copeland – Middle-Blocker – Junior – Auburn Riverside
Krisee Copeland was part of Auburn Riverside’s strong core that took the team to the State Championship last season. The 6’1” middle-blocker used her size intelligently at the net, being a strong presence for the Ravens both on offense and when blocking. Copeland has her great timing and a high volleyball IQ as some of her most interesting attributes and was part of the All-State second team in 2019.
Asia Stewart – Middle-Blocker – Senior – Federal Way
Asia Stewart is another middle-blocker that stands out in the district. The 6’1” Federal Way has tremendous reach on offense and quick feet that enable her to be a hitting option even when in transition. Her blocking game is also extremely well-developed and predicated upon her impressive reading of the game. Despite the Eagles’ struggles in 2019, she did well enough to earn an All-State team honorable mention.
Hannah Couch – Libero/Defensive Specialist – Junior – Auburn Riverside
Hannah Couch has the whole package for a libero. The 5’6” Auburn Riverside defensive stand-out is technically very good and her hard work with beach volleyball has helped her with athleticism and speed, two vital elements to dig balls. She’s also a very capable server, mastering virtually every skill an elite libero should. Because of that, she was an All-State team honorable mention nominee in 2019.
