We are now going to take a look at the ladies whose passing ability are next level and will be racking up the assists this season. Let’s take a look at the top setters returning.
Seniors
Kayla Sanchez (West Orange)
Kayla Sanchez is a setter who was one being groomed on the squad to be a true leader. She had 346 assists last season and I would not be shocked even in a shorter season where she could potentially reach that number again. She can pass from any spot on the court which allowed West Orange to be versatile on who was going to get the kill. Her leadership and passing will be a critical component for this Mountaineers squad.
Joey Li (Livingston)
Li was the centerpiece of the Livingston offense. She had 278 assists and 27 digs. Watch for her to be stepping in to a significant leadership role. Her athleticism is on the court goes somewhat unnoticed due to her solid passing.
Katie Hipp (Montclair-Kimberly)
Hipp has been a significant part of the Montclair-Kimberly attack. She is a part of a squad looking to build some momentum this season. Her precision is what makes her a great passer and had her finish with 199 assists and 52 digs a season ago.
Juniors
Mia Geraghty (Nutley)
Geraghty was the engine of the dominant Nutley squad. She kept every ball she got in a play where everyone had the opportunity to get a kill. Her court presence is what makes her a great setter and always knowing where the hot-hand is. Last season she finished with 186 assists.
Taylor Sconiers (Bloomfield)
Sconiers is one who shares the load on Bloomfield as a part of their two-setter combination. She’s versatile and last year had 125 assists and 32 digs. Watch for her to be the primary option at setter for Bloomfield.
Jacqueline Rosario (Payne-Tech)
Rosario is one of the many core pieces returning for Payne-Tech. She has a plethora of weapons to choose from but she always knows who should get the pass. Her deception of passing allows her to be creative and keep opposing defenses off-balance. She finished with 194 assists and 45 digs last year.
Sophomore
Andria Huang (Newark Academy)
Huang is the youngest of the bunch and she is one to watch for years to come. She was the primary setter for Newark Academy as a freshman and she made a massive impact with 404 assists. Watch out for her to have another monster season.
These ladies are lethal passers and will be battling it out for all-conference honors. They can be anywhere on the floor and have perfect placement for whoever the pass is intended too. Watch for them to be racking up assists this season.
