Continue ReadingWe would love to officially welcome the 2024 class to the Prep Dig State Rankings. We are going to restart this series that we began this past spring with the freshman class of 2024. We have covered some in the Dallas area and also the Central Texas area, but now we will venture into the Houston area for the next installment of this popular series. We are extremely excited to cover this class now that they have had their high school season complete. We have been very active in communicating with College Recruiting Directors all over the state so that we can bring the best to the eyes of the college coaches we have in our database that read our articles. So without further ado, here are a few of the standouts from the 2024 class from H-Town.
Zoe Humphrey Zoe Humphrey 6'2" | MB St. Pius X | 2024 State #32 Nation TX [2024] 6-2 Middle (HS: Klein/Club: Houston Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Miss Humphrey is currently ranked as the 12th best prospect overall and the 5th best middle in the 2024 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She plays for two top programs in the Houston area in Houston Skyline and also Klein High School. She was a contributor as a freshman for Klein as they embarked on an amazing high school season this year and she tallied 20 blocks for the upperclassman dominated Varsity team. She also made 15-6A 2nd team All District as a freshman this year. Their only loss came in the UIL 6A State Championship at the hands of Seven Lakes high school. This young lady touches extremely high for a 6’2” middle. She has long arms which seem to reach up into the rafters of the gym and towers over her opponents. What you noticed about her in the middle position is her natural athleticism. She moves very fluid and her ceiling is so high to progress as a threat in the middle for the future. She is in great hands with both programs to become a very formidable middle blocker. Please welcome her to the State Rankings as we are excited to cover her this club season.
Tatum Busch Tatum Busch 5'11" | OH Deer Park | 2024 State TX [2024] 5-11 Outside (HS: Deer Park/Club: Houston Stellar/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Miss Busch is the 16th ranked overall prospect and the 7th ranked outside in the 2024 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. This young lady has burst onto the scene as a freshman for her Deer Park high school program. She amassed 247 kills, 15 blocks, 16 aces, and 223 digs…AS A FRESHMAN ON VARSITY. Those are usually numbers that describe an experienced upperclassman. While most freshman are still growing into their body and learning new techniques, Tatum will only have to fine tune her great volleyball mechanics. The timing that this young lady has is unmatched. She can get on top of a ball and murder it in front of the attack line. Even though she con explode on the ball like a seasoned veteran, she also possesses amazing ball control to score in a variety of ways. This young lady looks to obliterate the offensive record books for Deer park as she continues her volleyball career. She really excels in running a faster tempo outside set and we are going to love covering her as she is a sight to see. Please welcome her to the State Rankings.
Jaylynn McNeill Jaylynn McNeill 6'0" | MB Klein Cain | 2024 State TX [2024] 5-11 Middle (HS: Klein Cain/Club: Houston Juniors/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Jaylynn comes in as the 18th ranked overall prospect and the 6th ranked middle in the 2024 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. Miss McNeil is a huge stopper in the middle as she has great power behind her strong upper body frame. She is able to hit with power in multiple locations on the net. She blocks with ease and opponents have a hard time hitting around her. She plays for a wonderful program in Houston Juniors who regularly pumps out division one prospects. Overpasses will disappear fast if they are anywhere near her zone as she has a whip of a wrist-snap. We think she has a very high ceiling to progress as a middle or right side and will keep our eye on her very closely as she learns all of the techniques necessary to compete at a high level. We are already impressed with her footwork as she drives into the ground hard toward her setter for quick attacks. Please welcome her to the State Rankings.
