We pride ourselves on covering ALL levels of players throughout the huge state of Texas. We are always looking for diamonds in the rough that might not get a lot of the coverage that big named programs usually get from other publications. We have three players who we have not written about in the past year but have been in our Prep Dig Rankings since the first publishing back in March. College programs should definitely give these players a look. Follow us as we venture out to the Dallas Area for three players who are still uncommitted but deserve a look from college programs.
Abby Folsom Abby Folsom 5'9" | S Denton | 2022 State TX [2022] 5-9 Setter (HS: Denton/Club: Instinct/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Abby is currently ranked as the 63rd best prospect in the 2022 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. Miss Folsom is a setter from the North Texas area. She is a very polished setter who loves to jump set and has exceptional location throughout the entire net. She doesn’t have a set that she can’t locate well. Her accuracy is what stands out the most as she is extremely consistent in both stationary sets and out of system balls that she has to track down. She sets a great slide that looks picturesque as it travels toward the right pin. Denton has some really great offensive weapons that are on our State Rankings and they shine because they have Miss Folsom delivering the ball exactly where they need it to score. She plays for a great club program, Instinct VBC, who is always super competitive and provides great training. We are excited to have Abby on our Rankings and think she can provide a solid floor general for any college program who is still looking for a 2022 setter. Give her a look this season during club tournaments and you wont be disappointed. We will be covering her for the next few years.
Nevaeh Zavala Nevaeh Zavala 6'1" | MB Plano East | 2022 State TX [2022] 6-1 Middle (HS: Plano East/Club: Dallas Premier/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Neveah is ranked as the 66th best prospect in the 2022 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. Miss Zavala is a slid middle from the Dallas area who also stars in basketball also for her Plano East high school. The two sport star also made the JVA watch list for 2020. She is a big stopper in the middle for her Dallas Premier club team. She drives hard toward her setter with solid footwork which keeps her at a fast tempo to hit the quick set. I love her upper body control and her lightning quick arm swing that provides so much power on her attack. She is able to show off her athleticism when running the slide and has enough upper body control to hit all areas of the court from it. Dallas Premier runs her in 31’s, 51’s and slides which showcases her ability to run all routes in any system. She could absolutely help out a college program looking for an elite athletic middle. Coaches who are still looking for a 2022 middle should add her name to your list to look at this year at club tourneys.
Madison Sorrell Madison Sorrell 6'4" | RS Benbrook | 2022 State TX [2022] 6-4 Middle/Right Side (HS: Benbrook/Club: NRG Volleyball/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Madison is currently ranked as the 87th top prospect in the 2022 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. Miss Sorrell is a super tall middle from the North Texas area who is a solid force. You can’t teach height and Madison definitely has a lot of it. She puts up a solid block against any opponent and has a very strong frame behind her. She still drives hard toward her setter and hits a heavy ball toward both corners. She does a great job of closing the block with her long arms if she isn’t able to get her feet all the way to the pins to take away the seam from the hitter. She would be a great prospect on the right side for a college program who needs a stopper. She is deceptively fast for her size and still is able to run 31’s and hit the seam with a lot of power. We will keep our eye on her this club season, but for programs who need some size on their roster, I suggest you give her a solid look.
