Continue ReadingI’ve seen many posts from high school programs this month congratulating players for making Academic All-State for the fall season. It is important to highlight and celebrate this accomplishment at the same levels as we do with All-Conference, All-District, and All-State. For the student-athlete, navigating academics, volleyball, other extracurriculars, and potentially jobs can be a daunting task. The ladies have done it with amazing success. To earn this distinct honor a player must play in 75% of the team’s matches and have a cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher. The ability to excel academically is an important asset in the recruitment process for those looking to compete at the next level. As college staff are navigating the recruitment landscape in the coming years after the effects of the pandemic, the possibility of earning academic scholarships may prove pivotal in securing a roster spot. As we shared in our recruitment article last month, full-ride scholarships aren’t guaranteed for every player. When you send out information to colleges or update your recruiting pages make sure to add, “2020 Missouri Academic All-State Volleyball”! We applaud all of the young ladies who place a heavy emphasis on the scholar in scholar-athlete. We can’t possibly list every player on this list, as it ranges from Class 1 to 5, however we have provided the list here! Again, congratulations and continue to lead the way.
