Several junior setters from Louisville are continuing to excel in the 2021 club volleyball season.
Here are four Louisville setters from the Class of 2022 that are on the rise.
Abby Powell Abby Powell S Sacred Heart | 2022 State KY : A 5-9 junior setter from Mercy Academy, Powell enjoyed a breakout campaign during the 2020 high school volleyball season. Competing in 19 of Sacred Heart’s 22 matches, Powell led her prep squad in assists. Currently, Powell is competing for KIVA 17 White National in the 2022 club volleyball season. Powell is quick and has strong communication skills.
Emily Surbaugh Emily Surbaugh S Male | 2023 State KY : A 5-8 junior setter from Male High School, Surbaugh delivered throughout the 2020 high school volleyball season. Among the leaders for Male, Surbaugh carried momentum over into the 2021 club volleyball season. A member of KIVA 17 Black, Surbaugh identifies blockers consistently and digs and blocks well.
Ella Teeley: A 5-10 junior setter from Mercy Academy, Teeley is currently competing for Union Under Armour 17-1. Teeley ranked second behind All-Stater Elena Scott Elena Scott S Mercy | 2021 State KY in assists for Mercy during the 2020 high school volleyball season. She is an accurate passer who runs the offense efficiently.
Callie Wiegandt Callie Wiegandt S Holy Cross (Louisville) | 2022 State KY : A 5-8 junior setter from Holy Cross High School (Louisville), Wiegandt is competing for KIVA 17 Black in the 2021 club volleyball season. Highly productive for Holy Cross during the 2020 high school volleyball season, Wiegandt is a vocal leader who covers the floor well and sets consistently.
