NOVA Juniors 18 Gold had a terrific outing finishing at 8-0 on the weekend to claim the title and earn the bid in the 18 American division. Some of this team’s top athletes include:
Elizabeth Bauer – 6’1 | OH
Bauer has length as a pin attacker which helps her create a high contact point. She was a team leader for her Uniontown squad this past high school season as she averaged over two kills per set while hitting at .234. Defensively, she also made her long presence felt as she added 2.7 blocks per match.
Michaella Cloonan – 6’1 | MH/RS
Cloonan brings good athleticism and physicality with her arm to the court. She has good movement and makes adjustments well in transition to be on time and with good spacing around her setter. Her high elbow is complimented with good speed that can create pace on the ball. She averaged 2.6 kills per set and 2.0 blocks per match for Archbishop Hoban in 2020. She is committed to play at Edinboro.
Ashton Knappenberger – 5’8 | OH/DS
Knappenberger may be this team’s most complete player. She has a solid skill foundation and contributes well in both the front and back row as she has good six-rotation skills. She is athletic with good elevation and arm control in the air. But it is her ball control and defense that she shines. She reads well and moves with good quickness and balance. She is committed to Mount Union to play her college ball.
Macy McCauley – 5’8 | OH
McCauley has a good skill set and can contribute well in a variety of facets of the game. She is a proven point scorer as she led her Hoover volleyball team with 3.4 kills per set. She can get it done defensively as well as she also contributed nearly 10 digs per set.
Grace Rosko – 6’1 | RS
Rosko has good versatility as a right side and middle and brings a competitive mindset to the court. Primarily as a middle for her high school team at Canfiled, she averaged 2.2 kills per set while hitting at a .245 percentage. She was terrific on the defensive side at three blocks per match. She has good size and length at the net and is aggressive in the air with her arm to generate good power.
