Many middles have already committed or signed somewhere for the fall of 2021, and many more have completed their volleyball playing careers. But what about those that still need a home for this coming fall? Here are five middles still looking for a home.
Nicole Wilkinson Nicole Wilkinson 5'11" | MB New Castle | 2021 State IN , 6-0, Munciana 18 Quora
Everyone knows about the Munciana Samurai, easily the most talented 18s team here in Indiana. Largely overlooked, however, is Munciana’s 18-2 team, the Quora. Nicole, one (2019, 4A) of two state champions on this list, comes from not only a winning program at New Castle, but trains with winners at Munciana. Her length and first step allow her to defend pin to pin, and will probably pan out to being an M2 at the next level due to her success off of two feet.
Kendra McCory Kendra McCory 5'11" | MB Brownstown Central | 2021 State IN , 5-11, Cougar 18s
An all-state honoree and a state champion (2019, 3A) highlight Kendra’s trophy case. This is a fast-footed, athletic middle that can get up and possibly play multiple positions (right side, specifically) at the next level if you’re not sold on her size.
Katie Sweet Katie Sweet 5'10" | MB Westfield | 2021 State IN , 5-10, Rev 18-1
An M2 in every definition of the position, Katie is more known for her adept placement of shots and high-IQ volleyball skills. Her extra-long legs help her defend from pin to pin, and her ability to see the court while attacking off of two feet is her calling card.
Techiya Jackson Techiya Jackson 6'0" | MB New Haven | 2021 State IN , 5-10, Team Pineapple 18 Black
Easily the best athlete on this list, Techiya out jumps the competition and hammers through the rest. A raw, late bloomer of a volleyball player, Techiya can play either middle, but I would put her as an M1 simply because of her abilities off of one foot. Miss Jackson has the highest attack touch on this list, and it’s not close.
Jessie Gearries, 5-11, Circle City 18 White
A long and lean middle, Jessie can play either middle position with ease, and her ball control is good enough to have her play a pin spot in a pinch. I like that she comes from a solid high school program in Avon, and she’s a Circle City kid since forever. Jessie is a gym rat that works hard, puts balls away, and plays at a high level. She’s just looking for a home for next fall.
