However, we know one of the reasons why many of you follow high school volleyball is to try and anticipate which prospects have what it takes to succeed at the collegiate level and beyond. So, in this series, we’ll share our best guesses and list the top student-athletes from each of the next three graduating classes in each State district.
The Greater St. Helens District is formed by nine high schools from the 2A class and here are the players we selected:
Class of 2021
Allie Andrew Allie Andrew 6'4" | MB Ridgefield | 2021 State WA – Middle-Blocker – Ridgefield
Allie Andrew Allie Andrew 6'4" | MB Ridgefield | 2021 State WA is one of the most coveted prospects in the entire state and Baylor was fortunate to secure a commitment from the standout 6’4” Ridgefield middle-blocker. One of the team’s captains, Andrew led the Sppuders to a State Championship title last season and was at her best in the final, when she registered 12 kills against Ellensburg and cemented her spot as an All-State second-team member and at the All-League first team. Ranked second at prepdig.com’s class of 2021 ranking, Andrew is nearly unstoppable on offense and is also a capable blocker despite still having a lot of upsides.
Class of 2022
Rylie Reeves Rylie Reeves 5'11" | OH Columbia River | 2022 WA – Outside Hitter – Columbia River
Rylie Reeves Rylie Reeves 5'11" | OH Columbia River | 2022 WA quickly became the heart and soul of Columbia River as she was a key piece in the team’s system in each of her two seasons of high school volleyball. Her game in 2019 was excellent as the outside hitter played a pivotal role in basically every area for the Chieftains, leading the team in kills (229) and aces (38) and second in digs (235) and passes (210). At 5’11”, Reeves has great size and a fantastic skillset for the position, which was recognized with her All-League second-team selection last season and her inclusion in prepdig.com’s class of 2022 watchlist.
Class of 2023
Madi Noel – Libero – Mark Morris
Only one freshman made it to the All-League team in 2019 and that was Madi Noel, the impressive Mark Morris libero ho was included as an honorable mention. The diminutive defender was a stud for the Monarchs and on several occasions, her digging ability was literally the difference between her team conceding a point and scoring one. There are no easy points when Noel is across the net as the young defender has great technique and ball control to go with her smart positioning and unwavering effort at the backcourt.
