However, we know one of the reasons why many of you follow high school volleyball is to try and anticipate which prospects have what it takes to succeed at the collegiate level and beyond. So, in this series, we’ll share our best guesses and list the top student-athletes from each of the next three graduating classes in each State district.
As we move to the West portion of the 2B Eastern Washington Athletic Conference (EWAC), these are the players we picked:
Class of 2021
Kylee Cuffe – Outside Hitter/Right Sider – Cle Elum-Roslyn
Kylee Cuffe substantially improved her role with Cle Elum-Roslyn last season and a significantly improved production came with that too. In 2019, the 5’9” prospect, which can play as either an outside hitter or a right sider, was the team’s second most-used offensive weapon registering 43 kills over the course of the season. She also added some decent numbers in aces (13) and digs (20) for the Warriors.
Class of 2022
Rachel Gallagher – Setter – Goldendale
Rachel Gallagher will certainly turn some heads on her first year competing in the district as Goldendale was added ahead of the upcoming season after being part of the 1A class. Gallagher has all the tools to be an excellent setter, including a great 5’10” size, reliable hands and a positive effort on defense. She has been an integral part of the Timberwolves’ core in the last two seasons and had a very strong 2019 campaign, one in which she made it to the All-State team as an honorable mention.
Class of 2023
Ady Maletzke – Defensive Specialist/Libero – Cle Elum-Roslyn
Ady Maletzke was able to improve Cle Elum-Roslyn’s defensive game in her very first year of high school volleyball. The 5’7” defensive specialist brought some much-needed energy for the Warriors’ backcourt game and ranked fourth in the team for both digs (65) and passes (77) even playing in only 38 sets. She also registered nine aces in 2019.
