However, we know one of the reasons why many of you follow high school volleyball is to try and anticipate which prospects have what it takes to succeed at the collegiate level and beyond. So, in this series, we’ll share our best guesses and list the top student-athletes from each of the next three graduating classes in each State district.
As we open the 3A class account, our first stop is at the Greater St. Helens District and here are our choices:
Class of 2021
Katie Peneueta Katie Peneueta 6'2" | MB Heritage | 2021 State WA – Middle-Blocker/Outside Hitter – Heritage
Katie Peneueta Katie Peneueta 6'2" | MB Heritage | 2021 State WA arrives in the district as a star in the making after strong campaigns with Heritage, which moved to the 3A class ahead of the upcoming season. The 6’2” prospect is a do-it-all kind of player as even if the offense is the strongest part of her game, confirmed by the 287 kills she amassed in 2019, she also posted huge numbers in several other areas, including 29 aces, 58 blocks, 203 digs and 299 passes. Big, technical and reliable, Peneueta was an All-League first-team member last season at the 4A Greater St. Helens district for the Timberwolves. She ranks 46th at prepdig.com’s class of 2021 ranking.
Class of 2022
Bella Hadaller Bella Hadaller 6'0" | OH Kelso | 2022 WA – Outside Hitter – Kelso
Bella Hadaller Bella Hadaller 6'0" | OH Kelso | 2022 WA is another of the offensive forces of the district. The 6’1” outside hitter has a rare skill set for someone her age, combining power, technique and smartness to excel in basically every aspect of the game and the personality to show up in the most important moments of the season, as she did to lead Kelso to a third-place finish at the State Championship in 2019. Her strong and consistent play for the Hilanders earned Hadaller an All-State team honorable mention and an All-League first-team selection. She’s part of prepdig.com’s class of 2022 watchlist.
Class of 2023
Ariah Nassey Ariah Nassey 5'10" | OH Heritage | 2022 WA – Outside Hitter – Heritage
Ariah Nassey Ariah Nassey 5'10" | OH Heritage | 2022 WA proved she could be impactful for Heritage right off the bat, posting impressive numbers for Heritage on her freshman year at the competitive 4A Greater St. Helens District. The 5’10” outside hitter was a stud on offense, ranking third in the Timberwolves roster with 68 kills thanks to her smart and nearly mistake-free game at the net. She also showed promise in other areas with 15 aces, 45 digs and 26 passes. She was included in prepdig.com’s class of 2023 watchlist.
