Every prospect still has a lot of potential to take their game to the next level, but some really show the ability to be game-changing talent if they continue to push themselves.
Here’s a look at five names from the Class of 2024 that are sure to play spoiler for opposing teams in the future.
Caroline Baker Caroline Baker 5'9" | S Byron Center | 2024 State MI , S Byron Center/FaR Out
Baker saw some time for the Byron Center varsity squad in the 2020 season and will be part of the program’s future. A slick setter for FaR Out, Baker has a lot of athleticism to utilize. She’s agile enough to make the tough sets, but has the sharp fundamentals to make routine plays look even more routine. Baker continues to find her voice as a leader on the floor and is going to be a real difference maker in the state.
Mallory Bohl Mallory Bohl 6'3" | MB Saline | 2024 State #102 Nation MI , MB Saline/Legacy
Bohl has the one thing you can’t teach – height. Standing 6’4”, Bohl already holds an advantage over many of her peers. However, Bohl is showing she is much more than a 6’4” frame. She’s a proven finisher at the net with an athletic swing. Where she really turns the tide in a match is her blocking ability. Able to see the court well, Bohl uses her long reach and wingspan to get a touch on a number of attacks. That makes things easier for her defense and leads to a lot of success for the offense. Bohl is already a major difference-maker, and is soon to become a Bracket Buster at the prep level.
Greta McKee Greta McKee 5'5" | DS/L Northville | 2024 State MI , L/DS Northville/Michigan Elite
McKee comes from a great defensive program in Northville and is going to be another game-changing player in the back row for the Mustangs in the future. McKee has a grittiness that is needed to be an elite-level libero. She seems to embrace the toughness of the position and is willing to throw her body in harms way to keep a point going. She also has a short memory, which is also very crucial to the position. She may collect some bumps and bruises along the way, but McKee will be a Bracket-Busting defender in the seasons ahead.
Johanna Tillman Johanna Tillman 6'2" | MB Dakota | 2024 State MI , MB Dakota/Legacy
Standing 6’1”, Tillman has a lot of athleticism to match her long frame, which leads to a promising future on the court. Tillman displays the footwork and court vision to be a successful finisher and blocker for her team. She also plays with a lot of enthusiasm and fire. She’s clearly driven to succeed and that drive will continue to take her to higher levels. In the years to come, Tillman is likely to be a dominant middle.
Izzy Whittaker Izzy Whittaker 6'1" | OH Grand Haven | 2024 State MI , OH Grand Haven/MVA
Whittaker is a promising young outside in the Grand Haven program that competes for MVA during the club season. Whittaker is able to play each side of the net and is working on becoming a consistent six-rotation outside that will be able to shoulder the load for her team. At 5’10” Whittaker is an explosive and instinctual player that makes the right choices just through reaction. She’s got a high ceiling if she continues to put in the time to complete her skillset.
