A win at Bluegrass in 17 Open was a telling sign for this team. They have a great core group of competitors that can get it done in all facets of the game. Lucy Trump Lucy Trump OH Ryle | 2022 State #38 Nation KY has one of the best arms in the area as the Notre Dame commit can score with range and power. She is supported well by Tessa Jones Tessa Jones 6'0" | MB Seton | 2022 State #125 Nation OH in the middle (Ole Miss) as she has good physicality and presence. Other contributors offensively include Lauren Otten Lauren Otten 6'0" | OH St. Ursula | 2022 State OH and the complete skill set of Maggie Butkovich Maggie Butkovich 6'2" | RS Mount Notre Dame | 2022 State OH who can pass and score efficiently from either pin. Cammy Niesen Cammy Niesen 5'6" | DS/L Roger Bacon | 2022 State #117 Nation OH (Ole Miss) is one of the best liberos in Ohio and plays with good composure while creating a lot of in-system opportunities for her team. Sophia Hudepohl Sophia Hudepohl 5'9" | S St. Ursula | 2022 State OH continues to progress well in her skills as a setter and floor leader. She has great touch and location through both pins and her footwork to pursue the ball is quick and efficient. Be sure to keep an eye on this team as they advance further towards national championship events as they are balanced and low error, a great combination for success.

This squad has a ton of potential as they have a core trio of pin attackers that balance each other well in what they do while collectively having the ability to score in bunches. Taylor Preston Taylor Preston 6'2" | OH St. Henry | 2022 State #66 Nation KY stands out with her elevation and lift. Combine this with her versatility to score from any location across the net and this Oklahoma commit becomes difficult to track and defend. Brooklynne Darby can bring the heat from either side of the floor as she has a fast arm and hits a heavy ball when on time and tempo. Elena Dubuc Elena Dubuc 5'11" | RS Turpin | 2022 State OH balances these two out well with a high contact point and aggressive arm to combine with good ball control in the back row. She is steady and low error. Production from middle Ava Kidd continues to increase as she works hard to make herself available and is developing her offensive range in front and behind the setter. Libero Abby Schaefer Abby Schaefer 5'8" | DS/L St. Henry | 2022 State #174 Nation KY and setter Cora Taylor fill critical roles and these two Division I commits (Western Kentucky and Butler respectively) are a quality tandem that controls their offensive system. A fifth place finish at Bluegrass and some quality wins this month there and at MEQ, including over Elevation 17 Crofton, 1st Alliance, and AVC, helps raise this team’s stock while creating good momentum through the remainder of qualifying season.
Elevation 17 Crofton
Third among these three teams, this group has good tools and potential to be competitive at a high level. Their biggest offensive strength may be in the middle with Lily Cropper Lily Cropper 6'3" | MB Lebanon | 2022 State OH and Brooke Bultema Brooke Bultema 6'3" | MB Ursuline | 2023 State #36 Nation OH having great ability to score from a variety of attack points around the setter. The concern is this team’s consistency with ball control to get these arms going. Lily Plaugher has explosive qualities on the pins with good lift and ability to create good pace with her arm. Lefty Mary Jones Mary Jones 5'10" | RS Cincinnati Hills Christian | 2022 State OH and Payton Deidesheimer Payton Deidesheimer 5'11" | OH Bishop Fenwick | 2022 State OH add depth on the pins. However, this offense is seemingly one high-level arm away from being consistently among the top teams each weekend. Add in increased ball control efficiency and the balance of their offense increases, freeing up space for hitters, and getting better balance of action through both pins. A recent 2-0 loss (25-18, 25-19) to NKYVC 17 Tsunami exposed these areas of need for this squad.
