Most Illinois programs have started their programs March 8th, and we are in for a special season as we are seeing new faces, old faces and new talents as some athletes are coming out of their club seasons. These are some of Illinois top players to watch during their high school season, as they have managed to put up the stats and end up on watch list radars for their talents and hunger to win.
Kenna Wollard– Illinois Valley Central
Wollard is most definitely an athlete that you want to keep on your radar when entering into the 2020-21 season. The 6’1” sophomore, turns heads when she steps on the court, touching 9’9” and having the athleticism to move around the court. Wollard has impressive blocking skills on top of her impressive swinging skills and attack on the ball. Wollard is coming off of her club season and is expected to keep up her fierce athletic performance.
Campbell Paris– Barrington High School
Paris is not your average outside hitter, standing at 6’4” and only a sophomore. Paris turns necks when she steps on the floor and as she moves aggressively across the floor. Paris has a standing reach of 8’4” and has aa currently jump touch of 10’4”, which is very impressive when it comes to Paris striking the ball upon the opposing attack. Paris has an incredibly strong and accurate right hand and knows how to effectively read the floor, preparing herself for all attack set ups. As Paris comes out of her club season into high school season, Paris is bringing her A game to each court she touches, bringing serious competition to her opposing teams.
Jessica Horwath- Barrington High School
6’0” Horwath is yet another outside hitter to watch this current high school season, as she looks to secure #1 in kills this year for Illinois, as last year she was ranked #2 in Illinois for kills. Horwath brings her talent to each floor she steps foot on and applies the necessary pressure for her opponents when she goes in for the kill. Horwath is an active listener, can read the floor and is swift on her feet and powerful in her arms, bringing her full athletic ability to play. She quick, fast and attentive and definitely someone to keep a close eye on throughout this season.
Rian Baker Rian Baker 5'11" | S Fremd | 2022 State #143 Nation IL – Fremd High School
Wake Forest commit, Rian Baker Rian Baker 5'11" | S Fremd | 2022 State #143 Nation IL , is another player to watch this upcoming season as she brings forth her setting skills to the court this high school season. Baker is quick on her feet, attentive on the court, and has a special skill set when it comes to setting up the kill for her fellow teammates. Baker is a key player when she is on the court and does not fail to impress the crowd with her presence. Though Baker has committed for her future volleyball career, her athleticism and skills are not to be missed.
Rylen Reid Rylen Reid 6'0" | OH Fremd | 2022 State #128 Nation IL – Fremd High School
6’0” Reid is a special asset not only to her club team but will be an important key player as she enters her high school season. The outside hitter has smooth foot movement and is able to read the floor clearly and move with the ball. Reid manages to have a powerful swing and strong right hand, which is a key component to winning matches with her team. In her previous high school season, Reid managed to have 451 kills, 238 digs and 42 aces with 94 sets played, which is impressive for a sophomore at the time. Reid continues to prove herself on the floor and is one to look forward to as we move into the high school season.
