One of the top clubs in Michigan is showing a lot of depth in the talent pool for 2021, as their Elite programs have had some great standout performers.
Here’s a look at four players that have been making a lot of noise this club season.
Samantha Deinek Samantha Deinek 6'0" | OH South Lyon East | 2021 State MI , OH 18 Elite
Deinek, a Gannon signee, has the length and athleticism to take over a match, and that is what she has been able to do during the 2021 club season. Deinek was an All-Region selection in Division 1 for the co-Lakes Valley Conference champs, South Lyon East. She has taken that momentum into club play, showing an improved passing games while being able to dominate at the net with her powerful arm and ability to play well above the net.
Sophia Sudzina, OH 17 Elite
It’s been a big last 12 months for Sudzina overall. She really rose to the occasion and developed into a consistent finisher in the fall for Notre Dame Prep, earning Division 2 Third Team All-State honors in the process. This club season, Sudzina is again raising her game for 17 Elite. Sudzina continues to improve on her finishing ability, while mixing up her shots. She also has greatly improved in her passing and serving, turning into a more complete player. Her prep season has given her more confidence and it’s shown during club play.
Anna Kuebler, DS 16 Elite
Kuebler comes from a defensive-heavy Clarkston prep squad, and was a consistent presence for the Wolves during their run to the Division 1 semifinals. Kuebler is a Class of 2022 player, but is able to play for 16 Elite. She provides a lot of leadership to go with her steady play in the back row. Kuebler has a great eye for the play and is able to square herself up for a great pass. On the more athletic plays, Kuebler has proven she can do that as well while keeping her team in-system.
Angie Butler Angie Butler 5'10" | OH Mercy | 2024 State MI , RS 15 Elite
Butler is a promising prospect in the Farmington Hills Mercy program that has been on point for 15 Elite during the club season. Not the biggest prospect in terms of length, Butler has shown a lot of explosive ability at the net. She’s a consistent finisher and draws a lot of defensive attention because of it. Butler has also shown good reads on her blocking while also looking to improve on her passing and serving to become an all-around talent.
