Continue ReadingWe’re about a month into the long-waited and hugely-anticipated high school volleyball season in Washington. The moment we all have been waiting for is here and even though we haven’t been able to watch it in person for the most part, several players are putting up some great performances out there.
Some familiar faces are producing as much as expected while some new ones are exceeding expectations and performing a lot better than many would think. Starting this week, we’ll highlight the top performers in each of the six divisions in the state in a series of articles.
These are some of the players who have been doing really well on the 3A and 4A Divisions.

Devyn Oestreich – Outside Hitter – Capital – 2021
Devyn Oestreich has produced for Capital since her first day in the program and it’s been no different this season. The 5’11” outside hitter has been extremely productive at the net and is on pace to have her best scoring season with the Cougars after she registered 118 kills in the first 30 sets of the season. She has the most kills per set (3.9) and the best kill (54.9%) and hitting (42.3%) percentages of her high school career while also producing when blocking (22) and digging (73).
Regan Wilkinson – Setter – Spanaway Lake – 2022
Regan Wilkinson strongly benefited from a positional change that made her move from defensive specialist to setter this season. The move brought the best of her as Wilkinson is putting up some big numbers with Spanaway Lake. She has been one of the top setters in the division with an impressive average of nine assists per set, to a total of 217 so far. Wilkinson has also been producing in other areas of the game as she registered 21 kills, 14 aces and 55 digs for Sentinels early in the season.
Madison Nichols – Middle-Blocker – Capital – 2021
Madison Nichols is another reason (and for many the main one) why Capital remains undefeated after nine matches. The 5’8” middle-blocker is having a spectacular season with the Cougars ranking in the team’s top three in each of the five statistical categories she could. Nichols is Capital’s top blocker (42), server (25) and defender (76) and ranks second in kills (76) and third in passes (72). Such a strong all-around game will suit her well in the sequence of her career as she’ll play beach volleyball for Boise State.

Ella Ensign Ella Ensign 5'8" | OH Curtis | 2023 State WA – Outside Hitter – Curtis – 2023
Ella Ensign Ella Ensign 5'8" | OH Curtis | 2023 State WA has substantially grown her role with Curtis from her freshman year and is now the centerpiece of the team’s playing system. The 5’8” outside hitter is a very skilled player and had stood out in the Vikings’ inconsistent start of season in a variety of ways. Ensign, who’s also a talented beach volleyball player, lead her team in kills (152) and is near the top in several other areas of the game, including serving (second, with 17 aces), blocking (second, with ten), passing (second, with 161) and digging (third with 106).
Sadie Alsup – Libero/Defensive Specialist – Rogers – 2021
Sadie Alsup has been leading Rogers’ backcourt efforts in great fashion as the 5’6” libero is a big part of the team’s 7-5 win record so far. A very technical and fast player, Alsup has found her spot in the Rams’ rotation and has been producing as never before. Her defensive game improved notably as she already doubled last season’s production with 174 digs against her 2020’s 79 and she has also become the team’s main passer with 133 so far.
Hailey Brockway Hailey Brockway 6'0" | OH Graham-Kapowskin | 2023 State #125 Nation WA – Outside Hitter – Graham-Kapowsin – 2023
Graham-Kapowsin’s scoring machine is back at it as Hailey Brockway Hailey Brockway 6'0" | OH Graham-Kapowskin | 2023 State #125 Nation WA ranks among the best in the division once again. The 6’1” outside hitter is still far from the 472 kills she had on her freshman year with only 127 but is on pace to reach or at least get close to it with higher kill (42.3%) and hitting (32%) percentages than she had last year. Brockway also continues as an important piece of the Eagles’ overall game as she leads the team in aces (17) and blocks (14) and ranks third in digs (72) and fourth in passes (56).
