Continue ReadingAs the weekend approaches, Illinois Volleyball clubs are starting to prepare their athletes for some of their first tournaments of the season and they are coming in hot with some new faces and new talents to their teams. The CVL Tournament is being held this weekend March 13th and March 14th, 2021 and these teams are ready to bring forward what they have been training for. Some players to watch this weekend are:
Rece Barry- Eich Volleyball Club
Barry is a swift and talents Right Side and Outside Hitter for EVC, being the leader of the 17U team on the court. Barry stands at 5’8” and 135lbs and has the potential of being very successful in her upcoming season and progressing her skills on the court. Barry is a aggressive and attentive attacker on the court and is quick on her feet. Barry is definitely a player to keep eyes on, as she has the skill to adapt to different situations and is an effective and efficient communicator on the floor.
Jocelyn Silva- Chicago Elite 17 Nike
Silva is a setter to keep eyes on during this weekend’s tournament as she is an important asset to her team. Silva managed to have 74 assists, 27 aces and 21 digs last season, playing 25 sets. Silva has a soft touch when it comes to setting up the attack for her outside attackers. Silva stands at 5’7” and her athletic build allows her to move accordingly when there is a threat opposed to her court. Silva is one to watch, because her touch my be soft, but she is strategic when it comes to setting up her attacks and defending her territory.
AnnMarie Lawrence- 360 Sports Academy
Lawrence is a very skilled player when it comes to defending the ball. Lawrence has a block jump of 9’5”, which makes her very valuable when it comes to defending the ball when she is on the court. Lawrence is aggressive, attentive and able to read the floor and follow plays when they are called out. She has a very strong and persistent right hand and is able to locate and attack open zones to get the point for her team. Lawrence stands at 5’9” and is definitely a competitive player and is a player to watch this weekend, as she returns back to the court this weekend with new skills and the hunger to win.
Mackenzie Janssens- Eich Volleyball Club
Janssens is another athlete from Eich Volleyball Club that is one to watch this upcoming weekend. Janssens is one that has swift and smooth skills when it comes to moving across the floor. As their setter, she is one that holds strong communication across her team and is able to read her environment and set up the ideal attack on the opposing team. Being quick on her feet, the ability to read their opponent and set the final attack, she is defiantly someone to watch from EVC and the skills she brings this weekend.
Sasha Levy- Chicago Elite 17 Nike
Levy can be one to watch, standing at 5’5” and 150lbs with an impressive standing reach of 7’1” and block jump of 8’4”. Levy is aa defensive specialist and Libero, holding the ability to manage the backrow for her team. Levy has the ability to quickly read the location of the ball and act in an effective manner on controlling the ball for her teammates and defending the ball. Levy is an aggressive defender and definitely brings her potential to the floor and manages show impressive ball management skills. Chicago Elite and Levy is definitely one to watch as we go into the CVL tournament this weekend.
