Brooke Mosher Brooke Mosher 5'11" | S Waterloo | 2021 State WI , an Illinois commit who plays for FC Elite is one of those players, maybe one of the best where she can set, swing, and defend – she does it all extremely well. A great athlete who makes it look easy. Another one I had the joy of watching last year was Katie Hurta Katie Hurta 6'0" | S Nazareth | 2022 State #14 Nation IL of Adversity 17 Adidas, the Indiana commit who can swing from the pin or set at a very high level. Those players are rare, but let’s take a look at some other swiss army type athletes.
Sydney Lewellin Sydney Lewellin S Lake Mills | 2022 State WI – Milwaukee Sting 17 Adidas
Class of 2022
Lewellin is a left handed setter who can attack, defend, and put the ball right where her attackers need it. She is incredibly dynamic and the ultimate competitor. She’s built herself a solid high school and club career and remains one of the top uncommitted setters in the Class of 2022.
Claire Ammeraal Claire Ammeraal 6'0" | S Madison LaFollette | 2022 State #179 Nation WI – Capital 17 Adidas
Class of 2022
Ammeraal is 6’0 tall, left handed, and is a setter/right side combo where she most likely would set at the next level, but then again – I see her swing from the right side and she cores points there too. The best move is when she is setting in the front row and can turn and burn. She is long, strong, and covers quite the area and is someone the defense always has to be aware of.
Wave 1 of the @GLRVB 15s has finished. Top players today (which there were many)
Ava Pratt – @ Adversity _vbc
Lauren Salata – @1stAllianceVBC Lions 15 Red
Jenna Meitzler – @SkyHighVB
Grace Nelson – @1stAllianceVBC Lions 15-1
Ellie White – @1stAllianceVBC Lions 15-1— Chris Fitzgerald (@PrepDigChris) February 27, 2021
Ellie White – Lions 15-1
Class of 2024
Lions 15-1 will be a top contender among 15s teams throughout the country. Ellie White can score points on the right side and then head back to the backrow to set. So fundamentally sound where she can hold her block, use her IQ to find the open spot or use the block as an attacker, and looks so natural running the show as a setter. This team plays a fast tempo and with their rock solid ball control they are tough to slow down.
More names coming from the 15s @GLRVB Qualifer from @SkyHighVB
Ava Grevengoed – @uno_volleyball
Lauren Salata – @1stAllianceVBC Lions 15-Red
Megan Consigny –@1stAllianceVBC Lions 15 Red
Ana Vetter – @ Adversity _vbc
Mija Jegers – Mod 15 Blue— Chris Fitzgerald (@PrepDigChris) February 27, 2021
Lauren Salata – Lions 15-Red
Class of 2024
Salata is much like White, where she hits on the right side in the front row and then heads to the backrow to set. When she attacks it’s as if she is looking through the net, just picking apart the defense. In the backrow she does the same where she can see what openings she has and where her attackers can score points. Well trained with her fundamentals, but it is also very apparent she has been taught the game from an IQ standpoint as to take advantage of every opportunity the other side gives her.
Macie Wieman – Balance 17s (WI)
Class of 2022
Wieman is the combo libero/pin hitter who has the size, length, and overall athletic ability to do a lot of special things on multiple courts. She was part of the Reedsburg basketball team that was state runner-up at the Wisconsin State Basketball Tournament last weekend. She is an up and coming hidden gem in the Class of 2022 and plays on a Balance team out of the Madison area who has a lot of strong multisport athletes who would be a steal at the next level. Middle, Ally Barth Ally Barth 6'0" | MB Edgewood | 2022 State WI recently committed to North Dakota State from this squad.
Jenna Meitzler – Sky High 15 Black Adidas
Class of 2024
It doesn’t take long to watch and notice Meitzler, she is involved in everything on the court as a backrow setter and a right side in the front row. She is long and athletic where she can get to the second contact anywhere and make something happen. In the front row, she can use her IQ to score point, but is also one who can put a big swing on the block as well a solid block. She is a huge catalyst for her Sky High team.
Emerson Van Lannen Emerson Van Lannen 5'10" | S Appleton North | 2024 State #144 Nation WI – FC Elite 15 Navy
Class of 2024
Van Lannen continues to impress each time she steps on the court. She’s feisty and a big competitor where she will get a touch on everything where she is a solid defender in right back and transitions quickly to a setter. When she comes to the front row, she knows the vulnerable spots on the defense to score points. Her serve is also flat with some pop to keep the offense out of system.
Andi Spies Andi Spies 5'10" | S Fort Atkinson | 2024 State #135 Nation WI – Capital 16 Adidas
Class of 2024
Silky smooth, Spies has maturity well beyond her years as she has been playing at times two age groups up at Capital. This year she will be on the 16 Adidas squad as a 2024 where she could play any position. As a setter, she has a smooth release, and knows how to command the court. Once she steps in the front row, she can be offensive as a setter or swing away from the right side. A true all around player.
Emily Bruss Emily Bruss 5'9" | S Pulaski | 2024 State WI – Milwaukee Sting 15 Black
Class of 2024
Another setter who can be found swinging on the pin. Each time she steps on the court, she continues to improve. This fall, Bruss was without a high school season, but was able to play in plenty of Prep Dig Events where we saw her run the show as a newbie on the scene. It did not take long for her to make an impression and now she is able to swing on the left and right side developing her all around game.
Alivia Keegan – Mission 15 Elite
Class of 2024
Super athletic. Keegans jumping ability is just one example of how she is able to display her overall athleticism and the net when she can swing on the right side and block. In the backrow she can defend her position before transitioning to set. This is a good representation of this Mission team where they can all do a little bit of everything, but their upside is that they can all swing it and have solid ball control.
