All are capable of being dominant players in a match while also sharpening their all-around skills. An impactful right side is a big strength to any team and these five have proven they can have a big impact.
1. Maradith O’Gorman Maradith O’Gorman 6'2" | RS Lakewood | 2022 State #24 Nation MI , Lakewood/FaR Out: O’Gorman has been a dominant player from the right side for years and is already a big get for Michigan State University. The 6’2” hitter delivers a powerful attack while also being a dominant force when it comes to blocking. O’Gorman improves weekly in her passing and serving to put together the complete package.
2. Kimani Johnson Kimani Johnson 6'3" | RS Cass Tech | 2022 State #137 Nation MI , Cass Tech/Michigan Elite: Another long option on the right side, Johnson stands 6’3” and plays well above the net on offense and defense. Johnson has a good mix of attacks and swings to keep opponents guessing. She also has improving court vision to become a stronger overall defender. Johnson has all the tools to be a standout college performer.
3. Bianca Giglio Bianca Giglio 5'10" | RS Notre Dame Prep | 2022 State MI , Notre Dame Prep/Legacy: Giglio is a do-everything type player who can play nearly any position on the floor. She really showed a lot of finishing ability this past prep season, but also is a standout defender during club season. Giglio uses her wide array of skills to be a leader on the floor and utilize a high court IQ. Her diverse skills should make her a great option for any team.
4. Lauren Chioini Lauren Chioini 6'0" | RS Bloomfield | 2022 State MI , Bloomfield Hills/Michigan Elite: Chioini is a 6’1” RS that also can play the middle. She is a growing talent that has been making a lot of strides over the last year. Chioini has the power in her swing to be a consistent finisher and is bringing along her skills in the other areas of the game. Keep an eye on her to have a breakout 2021-22 season.
5. Rachel Karr Rachel Karr RS Novi | 2022 State MI , Novi/Legacy: Karr also mixes things up from the setter position and was a big key to Novi getting to the Division 1 semifinals this past prep season. Karr brings a lot to the table. Her experience at setter helps her on the outside as well, as she knows the ins and outs of both positions and how to take advantage of her opponents at either spot. She’s also got a strong serve while getting well-rounded in her defensive play.
