Here is a look at five players who produced well in the Cougars’ second match of the day.
OH, Taryn Kondo, 6’9”, Campus – Arguably, Kondo was the best player I saw compete during this club event. The Campus outside hitter can take over a match. The “Kansas Heavy Hitter” finished with seven kills, eight digs, and three serve receptions in the match I watched closely. She is a strong young lady with a huge upside. College coaches should start getting in line to watch this Kansas Athlete perform.
MH, Bridgen Gormley, 5’10”, Bishop Carroll – Gormley had a solid first match for the Cougars. She was second on the team with three kills and added two blocks. She projects as a front-row only player, but she has a nice serv and a strong net-front presence.
L, Ashlynn Creighton, 5’5”, Campus – Campus could very well have a team to watch out for in 2021. Creighton led the Cougars with seven digs and nine serve receptions. She has a solid receiving technique and quick feet.
OH, Emma Geier, 5’10”, Andover Central – Geier played an impressive match. She is a six-rotation player and filled up the stat sheet with four digs, three kills, and three serve receptions. Geier is a competitor and picks her teammates up after hitting and passing mistakes.
OH, Lauren Boothe, 5’9”, Derby – Another interesting versatile player on the FCS Cougar 16-1 squad is a sophomore from Derby. Boothe plays hard and will look to have an impact year for the Derby Panthers who are always a competitive team in Class 5A. She finished with three digs, two kills, and two serve receptions in the early match.
