Continue ReadingThe high school volleyball season continues at full pace in the state of Washington. After several months of wait and uncertainty, it has been great to see these student-athletes being able to get on the court again and doing what they love.
It is, however, a shortened season and in a little over three weeks it will have come to an end already. Knowing that, we certainly don’t want to waste any time and will continue with our weekly articles highlights the players who have been doing a great job in each of the state’s six divisions.
Today it’s time we address the 1A and 1B divisions.
1A
Jozlyn Greff – Outside Hitter – Cedar Park Christian – 2024
It’s not usual to see a freshman being set 370 times and being able to put down 110 of those attempts, even less during a shortened season. But that’s good Jozlyn Greff was for Cedar Park Christian in 2020. The 5’9” outside hitter started her high school career on fire and was in the Eagles’ top-three for kills (first), aces (second, with 22), digs (third, with 74) and passes (third, with 124).
Elizabeth Anderson – Setter – King’s – 2021
Elizabeth Anderson had an outstanding farewell season in her high school career as King’s floor general was among the best setters in the division. The 5’7” Anderson was at the top of her game the entire season and nearly had a 300-assist season, falling short just by nine and averaging whooping 7.5 per set. She also added 71 digs and 14 aces to her account with the Knights.
Bayley Benson – Outside Hitter – Colville – 2023
It was certainly a limited sample size, but Bayley Benson’s campaign with Colville left too many people excited about her future. A six-foot outside hitter, Benson posted some impressive numbers in the five matches and 18 sets in which her stats were compiled, adding up to 23 kills, 20 digs, 39 passes and, most notably, 21 blocks, which gave her an average north of one per set.

Lindsey Short Lindsey Short 6'1" | MB Republic | 2023 State WA – Outside Hitter – Republic – 2023
Lindsey Short Lindsey Short 6'1" | MB Republic | 2023 State WA was a giant for Republic (no pun intended!). The second-year outside hitter has put up some big numbers for the team and was only one kill short (no pun intended again!) of reaching triple digits in that skill. She also did well from the service line with 21 aces and at the net with nine blocks. She’s part of our class of 2023 watchlist.
Melloney Deife – Setter – Odessa – 2024
A technically brilliant prospect, Melloney Deife brought a lot to Odessa’s game in her first season of high school volleyball. Deployed as a setter, she used her great skills to put her teammates in great positions at the net, handing out 247 assists, averaging 5.7 per set. The 5’5” Deife also has superior defensive skills and ended the season with 51 digs.
LeAnn Kincaid – Outside Hitter – Touchet – 2021
As one of the team’s most experienced players and its captain, LeAnn Kincaid was expected to do a lot for Touchet this season and she did just that. The 5’11” outside hitter led the Indians in three different skills, being the team’s top hitter (73 kills), blocker (26 stuffs) and serve-receiver (211 passes) and ranking third in digs with 162.
