It is, however, a shortened season and in a month it will have come to an end already. Knowing that, we certainly don’t want to waste any time and will continue with our weekly articles highlights the players who have been doing a great job in each of the state’s six divisions.
Let’s look at the players who turned heads in the 3A and 4A Divisions.
3A
Rebecca Kjenstad – Outside Hitter – Stadium – 2021
Rebecca Kjenstad carried Stadium’s offense during the season, registered more than a third of the team’s total kills with 135. She not only produced in numbers but was also very efficient with a kill percentage of 36.6%. The 5’8” outside hitter also registered 15 aces, eight blocks, 73 digs and 149 passes.
Margaret Roberts – Setter – Wilson – 2022
Not a lot of people looking at the 5’2” Margaret Roberts can immediately understand how important she is for Wilson volleyball team. She might be limited in her size, but Roberts brings so much to the table for the Rams, starting with the 350 assists she registered during the season, to an average of nearly ten per set. Her impact at the net wasn’t meaningful for obvious reasons, but Roberts made up for that with a solid backcourt game that included 122 digs and 32 aces.
Sam Mueller – Middle-Blocker – North Thurston – 2021
Sam Mueller was a steady presence at the net for North Thurston during the season. The 5’10” middle-blocker controlled the net for the Rams and made their opponent’s lives a lot more difficult with her blocking ability which generated 40 points for her team (averaging 1.3 per set). Mueller also produced on offense with 35 kills and from the service line with 13 aces.
4A
Kiauna Mack Kiauna Mack 6'1" | MB Rodgers | 2022 WA – Outside Hitter – Rogers – 2022
Kiauna Mack Kiauna Mack 6'1" | MB Rodgers | 2022 WA is certainly one of the most coveted prospects of the class of 2022. As if her 6’2” frame wasn’t enough to attract some attention, she added a very productive season with Rogers to her resume. Mack used her size and skills to be one of the strongest players in the division at the net, producing 152 kills and 22 blocks. Her backcourt game was also notable with 96 digs, 101 passes and 14 aces.
Danielle Brown – Middle-blocker – Puyallup – 2024
Another 6’2” prospect who drew a lot of attention this season was Puyallup’s Danielle Brown. Playing in her first season of high school volleyball, she quickly emerged as a key factor in the Vikings’ perfect 15-0 campaign. Brown was very strong at the net with 84 kills and 43 blocks and also brought some value in the backcourt with 15 aces and 24 digs.
Michelle Fast Michelle Fast 5'8" | S Lake Stevens | 2021 State WA – Setter – Lake Stevens – 2021
Michelle Fast Michelle Fast 5'8" | S Lake Stevens | 2021 State WA ’s final year of high school was no different than the other ones in the sense that the 5’10” setter was a key member of a strong Lake Stevens team. If the Vikings managed to win all their nine matches, they owe their setter some of the credit for it as Fast dished out 260 assists (averaging nearly 12 per set), registered 12 aces and helped on defense with 55 digs.
