I haven’t had an opportunity to watch any of the contests, therefore I don’t have much to add in regards to player performances. I can’t recall if I shared previously but I also officiate college and club volleyball. It was a busy last week in Omaha with quarantine and line judging some exciting matches. And unfortunately a quick turnaround with 18s Nationals this weekend where I will be back to work so not much time to catch up on games. I will try to preview the 18s representing Gateway and Heart of America in the coming days heading to nationals. For now, here is a small glimpse of what went down in Texas.
Dynasty 15 Black keeps the Heart of America streak alive.
After what they would consider a disappointing Show Me the previous week, Dynasty kicked tail and took names this weekend going 10-0 and claiming the second consecutive gold ball for local teams. They took out the likes of Skyline 15 Royal, Madfrog 15 Green, and local foe KC Power along the way. This is how you bounce back from a difficult weekend. KC Power 15-1 was looking for their third championship of the qualifier season but went 1-2 in the final pool on day 3 to finish 5th.
The Trickle Down to 5th gives Rockwood an open bid, Dynasty 17 Blue still battling in USA
In17 open, a talented and deep division helped Rockwood Thunder 17 Elite capture an Open Bid. Their win in the first game on the last day proved to be pivotal as they entered into a three-way tie and their head-to-head win over NOLA gave them the 2nd place finish in the pool. They finished the weekend 5-3 and should continue to get better heading into their next qualifier. Dynasty 17 Black also finished 5-3, good enough for 9th place. Dynasty 17 Blue has come close on many occasions this season in grabbing a USA bid. They were 9th at Sunshine back in March and 9th last weekend in Kansas City. They moved up to 7th in Texas going 6-4 and making it to the gold bracket.
