Continue ReadingWe are proud of our third update to the 2021 Class. We have covered these young ladies for a year now and have had so many factors to consider when deciding who should be where in the State Rankings. It is definitely not an easy task, but it is something that incites passion when discussing positions, teams, abilities, team finishes in tournaments, head to head matchups, and a list of other things we take into consideration. In the end all of these players deserve to be on our State Ranked List and we are very proud to share it with you. We will be profiling players who were previously ranked in the state, but through great play, they made some serious moves up the rankings. Without further ado, here are a few players who moved up:
Ally Batenhorst Ally Batenhorst 6'4" | OH Seven Lakes | 2021 State TX 6-4 Outside (HS: Seven Lakes/Club: Houston Juniors/Signed: Nebraska)
Ally Batenhorst Ally Batenhorst 6'4" | OH Seven Lakes | 2021 State TX has shot up the charts and is now ranked as the 2nd best recruit in the 2021 Class according to our updated State Rankings. Previously we had her ranked as the 3rd top commit. Even though it is only one spot, she is very deserving of being listed with the cream of the crop. We published a few articles on this young lady already and here is a little of what I wrote, “This Nebraska commit is worth the price of admission. Nebraska has some great volleyball players in its state, so when a player from Texas is recruited to one of the best programs in the country, it says a lot about the player. She is the real deal. Standing at six foot four and playing on either pin she has been a joy to watch. She is a very gifted athlete who hits with so much power. She has every offensive weapon in her arsenal. In high school it is almost a guaranteed kill when she got the set. She regularly got over 25 kills in a match. Seven Lakes high school set her in the front row and the back row and she scored at will. We are looking forward to watching her play college volleyball on television. She is currently leading her team to a State Title game birth this weekend and has been the unstoppable driving force for the Seven Lakes offense. She just broke her own school record of 32 kills with a semi-final tally of 36 total kills in a five-set amazing win over SA Reagan to earn a second trip to the finals in four years. People can discuss who the best players are all day long until we are blue in the face, but numbers do not lie. This young lady has proven on the court that her top Outside Ranking is legit. In a state of such amazing talent, the cream always rises to the top.” She absolutely helped her team on that run to state. Ally will go to Nebraska as a UIL 6A State Champion as her Seven Lakes team dominated everyone this past season. Check out these amazing stats: 25-1 overall record and 11-1 district record in 2020, 2384 career kills on a .281 career outside hitting percentage. She also added 254 blocks, 171 aces, and also a few digs as well…1389 actually. Ally is a once in a lifetime player who can literally do it all on the court. We are extremely proud of her and will enjoy watching her at Nebraska playing the sport she loves.
Samantha Jacobs Samantha Jacobs 6'0" | OH Prosper | 2021 State TX [2021] 6-0 Outside (HS: Prosper/Club: Dallas Skyline/Verbal: Alabama)
Samantha is currently ranked as the 16th best prospect in the 2021 class according to our State Rankings. We moved her up a few spots from her previous rankings at #20. We have written about her a few times over the course of the year and stated the following, “Having a 29 inch vertical, this young lady can soar and score and will. She has been gifted with a golden arm that she will take to the University of Alabama in a few years and will definitely help the Tide Roll. She is one of many on the star studded Prosper High School volleyball team that has one state championship and two other deep runs at State. I think they are due for one more historic run this coming season. Keep your eyes on Miss Jacobs and her crew as they look to continue their dominance on the court in high school for her senior season. As for club, in 2019 her amazing Skyline team medaled in the Open division of USA Nationals. She is a very talented player who is a “go-to” player in crunch time for any team she plays for. When your team needs a kill, Sam is the one who wants the ball and every coach will give her the Green Light to swing away. You will see her and her Prosper High School team in the State playoffs this year.” Sami helped Prosper have another stellar season during her senior year as they went 17-4 overall and 11-1 in district. Over the course of her career at Prosper Sami was able to amass 1124 kills on a career .257 hitting percentage. She also had 79 blocks, 108 aces and 917 digs. This young lady is an All District, All State and pretty much All World player who will do wonders at Alabama in the SEC next year. She is one of the most athletic players in her age group and that is saying a lot considering the company she has on the State Rankings. We look forward to watching her play at the next level.
Annie Antar Annie Antar 5'11" | S Klein | 2021 State TX [2021] 5-11 Setter/Right Side (HS: Klein/Club: Houston Juniors/Signed: North Florida)
Miss Antar continues to move up the rankings in the 2021 class. Annie moved from 22nd to the 21st overall prospect and still the 2nd best setter/hitter in the 2021 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. In a previous article we stated,“Annie has had a very great school campaign over her past three years. This past year her Klein Bearkats were led by Annie Antar Annie Antar 5'11" | S Klein | 2021 State TX ’s 560 kills and 620 assists going into the playoffs. She earned the honor of Offensive player of the district last season. She is looking to do even more damage in her senior season. She is a valuable asset with her size and will do great things for the North Florida program in a few years as she is able to play all the way around and is a viable threat to score when attacking. She is a solid six-rotation player and has a cannon for an arm on the front row. Annie has done something amazing that needs to be congratulated. She surpassed 1500 assists, has 779 career digs and also became the All-Time Kill leader at Klein. We are very proud of her and her accomplishments. Annie is one of the biggest reasons why Klein is undefeated and on their way to play for the UIL 6A State Championship this coming weekend in Garland. She fills up the stat books for the Bearkats and we cannot wait to see her in action in the state championship match. North Florida is getting an immediate impact player who can do it all for their program.” We watched as Annie did her best to help her team reach the State Championship match, but they came up a bit short against eventual champion Seven Lakes. Annie was instrumental in their amazing run in which they went 27-1 overall and 12-0 in district. In four years, she was able to showcase her skills in every facet of the game. She tallied 152 aces, 869 digs, 1900 assists, and also 1231 kills since her freshman year. She was named the MVP of district 15-6A for her play during her senior season. That is a wonderful career and we couldn’t be more proud of her accomplishments. We can’t wait to watch her play at North Florida next season and wish her the best.
