Continue ReadingWe are proud of our third update to the 2022 Class. We have covered these young ladies for a year now and have had so many factors to consider when deciding who should be where in the State Rankings. It is definitely not an easy task, but it is something that incites passion when discussing positions, teams, abilities, team finishes in tournaments, head to head matchups, and a list of other things we take into consideration. In the end all of these players deserve to be on our State Ranked List and we are very proud to share them with you. We will be profiling players who were previously ranked in the state, but through great play, they made some serious moves up the rankings. Without further ado, here are a few players who moved up:
Brynn Williams Brynn Williams 5'10" | OH Mansfield | 2022 State #95 Nation TX (2022) 5-11 Outside (HS: Mansfield/Club: Drive Nation/Verbal: Texas Tech)
Brynn Williams Brynn Williams 5'10" | OH Mansfield | 2022 State #95 Nation TX is someone who we have been keeping our eye on closely. We have moved her two spots up from the 30th to the 28th best prospect in the state. We showcased her high school earlier this fall and we added her to the State Rankings in December for the first time. In those articles we wrote the following about her, “Miss Williams can flat out fly on the left pin. She is gifted with natural athleticism that allows her to easily adjust to any set and still hit for power. Her long legs and arms allow her to sky over would-be blockers with ease. She hits at the peak of her jump to get maximum height on contact. I know the coaches at Tech and having sent players to their program myself, I know they are going to love Brynn’s playing ability. She is the type of player that should make an immediate impact on their program. When Mansfield is in trouble out of system, Brynn is their “go-to” on the left pin and she almost always delivers. That is a very good weapon to have on an already explosive team. We will be watching Brynn very closely for the next few years. We are very happy to have her on such a prestigious list now and she has every tool to continue to move up the rankings. She along with a few of her Mansfield teammates will be back and ready to make a deep run in the playoffs next year as they still have tons of firepower. Grab your popcorn and get ready to watch her fly during the club season.” She has done nothing but gotten better and helped her Drive Nation club team qualify for USA Junior Nationals and become one of the best teams in the nation. She was absolutely instrumental in her Mansfield HS team going on a deep run this past season. Mansfield went 21-3 overall and also had an undefeated 14-0 district record. Miss Williams was a huge reason for that as a junior and will look to help do even more damage next season. In only three seasons she has tallied 678 kills, 145 blocks, 11 aces, and 300 digs. Get ready to watch some fireworks next year as Mansfield will be on a mission!
Kenna Miller Kenna Miller 6'0" | OH Northwest | 2022 State #122 Nation TX [2022] 6-0 Outside (HS: Northwest/Club: Fieldhouse Volleyball/ Verbal: Uncommitted)
Kenna Miller Kenna Miller 6'0" | OH Northwest | 2022 State #122 Nation TX has made some serious waves in the 2022 Prep Dig State Rankings again. We originally had her listed as the 43rd best prospect in the state but we have chosen to move her to the 34th top prospect spot based on her awesome stats this past year. We introduced her in December to the State Rankings and also showcased her as a player of the week during the high school season where we said the following, “This North Texas outside is a true six rotation outside who has the size and power to play at the next level. Her offensive skill-set is already next level as she is able to score from every position on the court both front row and back row with power and finesse. A true six rotation outside hitter should be one who has excellent ball control in serving, serve receive passing, and in digging while in the back row. Miss Miller is blessed to have it all. She is a fantastic player for both her high school and club teams. There is nothing this young lady can’t do on a court. Her jump serve keeps teams off-balance and she provides so much leadership for her school team also. Nothing seems to phase her while she is on the court. Her defensive skills are something that truly stands out. Most six footers have a hard time getting low or are not fast enough to dig hard driven balls. Not Miss Miller. She is the real deal and will be moving up our rankings very quickly as we watch her more closely. Keep your eye on this young lady as she continues to grow as a player. College coaches please take her name down as she can help a lot of programs in a few years. Kenna broke a school record with 34 kills and 23 digs in a five set win this season and that is something we have come to expect with her play. She is a phenom and we are going to follow her career very closely. We also believe that she has every tool to keep climbing up the rankings.” Looks like our prediction came to fruition as she made one of the largest jumps in the rankings. She only got better during her junior season at Northwest. Take a look at these stats: 317 kills, on a .312 hitting percentage from the left side pin, 24 aces, 35 blocks, 129 digs, and 176 service receptions. Last year was a breakout year for the stud six rotation left side and I can guarantee some records are going to be broken next season during her senior year. We will gladly watch very closely and we are happy to have moved her into the top 34. Stay tuned to see how far her stock rises.
Maggie Walsh Maggie Walsh 5'10" | OH San Marcos | 2022 State TX [2022] 5-10 Outside (HS: San Marcos/Club: Austin Juniors/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Maggie was originally ranked as the 53rd best prospect but due to her play we have moved her to the 48th best prospect in the 2022 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. We profiled her a few times so far on the site due to her play and we stated the following, “Miss Walsh moved to the San Marcos/Austin area this past year from the vaunted Denton Guyer high school and Instinct Volleyball club’s programs. A big move like that from a super solid program could have had some serious impacts on her volleyball career. However, Maggie landed into another fantastic program in Austin Juniors and has not skipped a beat on the court. A high riser who can absolutely throttle the ball is a problem on the court. The way she hits the ball should come with a warning or something. She has a gift in the form of a right arm. The ball almost disappears when she makes contact. It is a thing of beauty to watch this young lady hit a ball that hard down the line after she nails a few cross court attacks. She is a special six rotation player who will lead her san marcos team in passing efficiency and attacking. While she might not attract schools with a 5-10 height, she should not get looked over as she is special and will definitely help a college roster.” Usually it takes someone some time to get acclimated to playing with new teammates in order to create some fire, but Maggie didn’t need any time at all to show the explosiveness that she possesses in her first year with San Marcos. She had a phenomenal year in which she tallied 334 kills, hit an astounding .351 hitting percentage, 37 blocks, 24 aces, and 216 digs. We cannot wait to see what she does in her senior season next year. Help us congratulate her on the movement up the rankings.
