Continue ReadingThe offers for our wonderful Texas players keep coming. We love to see the pictures and news of these players as they are achieving their dreams. We are proud to announce some news from the recruiting front. There are three more players who have just committed to college volleyball programs recently and we would like to share the news. These young ladies have been hard at work during the high school volleyball season and have been also hard at work on the recruiting scene getting offers from schools and have made their decisions. Help us in congratulating them on the amazing news.
Maci Perkins [2022] 5-6 Libero (HS: Lovejoy/Club: Dallas Skyline/ Verbal: Cal State Bakersfield)
Miss Perkins is currently unranked in our Prep Dig State Rankings but that could change once we update the rankings this week. Stay tuned to see where she lands. She is a talented libero from the North Texas area. Maci currently plays for Lucas Lovejoy HS and also club for the always awesome Dallas Skyline club program. She helped her varsity squad win the UIL 5A State Championship with an overall record of 26-0 and 14-0 in district. She played sparingly on this past season’s State Championship team but will be looked at to help lead the defense next season as a senior. We are proud to announce that she just recently committed to play volleyball at Cal State Bakersfield. She has played for top club teams all her career and has qualified for Nationals twice. Maci is a tenacious defender and is not afraid to be on the floor as she routinely sprawls for balls well outside her range. She has a soft touch on hard driven balls and her coverage is on par with the next level liberos. We at Prep Dig couldn’t be more proud of her accomplishments. Please help us congratulate her and wish her well on her volleyball journey.
Ava Derbes [2022] 6-0 Setter (HS: A&M Consolidated/Club: Woodlands Revolution/Verbal: Tulane University)
Miss Derbes is currently unranked in our Prep Dig State Rankings but that will absolutely change once we update them this week. She plays for A&M Consolidated HS and also club for the up and coming Woodlands Revolution club program out of North Houston. She has been great in her two years on varsity at A&M Consolidated amassing 460 kills, 514 assists, 417 digs, and also 55 aces. We are proud to announce that she just recently committed to play volleyball at Tulane University. She is a fantastic multi-dimensional athlete on the volleyball court. She is capable of setting quick tempo offenses and also can hit quick or high tempos in the same game. She has tons of power and can score at will. Her versatility is what we like the most about her game. While most players are one-dimensional and specialize in a skill-set, Miss Derbes can fluidly change positions if necessary and help any team she is on. Please help us congratulate her on achieving her dreams of playing sports at the next level. Stay tuned to see where she falls on our rankings when I update them.
Julia Neveu Julia Neveu 5'5" | DS/L Oak Ridge | 2021 State TX [2021] 5-6 Libero (HS: Oak Ridge/Club: TAV Houston/Verbal: Pensacola State)
Miss Neveu is currently ranked as the 118th top prospect and 23st ranked libero in the 2021 class according to our state rankings. We wrote about her a few times and here is what we wrote,“This is one libero that should be on a lot of coach’s lists soon. When watching her play any true coach would marvel at her ability to control her upper body through contact. She holds her form so well during contact and after to make sure her arms do not add any extra movement on the pass to the setter. It is so refreshing to watch her body control as she torques her upper body to deliver pinpoint accurate digs from balls that are well outside her body. Her motor is always running when her opponent has the ball. When I watch her pursue a ball, she makes me want to chase an out of system ball too due to her energy. She is no stranger to flying around for balls as she has a true relentless pursuit of the ball defensively. She helped her Oak Ridge high school team to a 19-5 overall record and a 7-3 district record this past season. In only two years on Varsity she was able to rack up 1492 digs, have 832 service receptions and tally 55 aces. She is a gem in the back row and can easily help a college program with their ball control. I love her footwork as she reads the offense and I’m sure you will too when you watch her take command of the back row.” We are extremely proud that she has just recently committed to play volleyball at the next level and will play for Pensacola State next season. She will do wonders for this program and will have no problem with the curriculum as she is in the top 11% of her class at Oak Ridge and is seeking to be a bio major. We wish her the best and are happy that she is able to pursue her dream.
