SV Strikers 15-1 Squad Deep With Talent
During the high school season, the Hillsboro Trojans and Smoky Valley Vikings are bitter rivals. However, during the club season, they come together to form a dominant 15-1 SV Strikers squad.
The Strikers competed at the Spring Battle at the Forum in Wichita on April 3.
Here is a look at five players who produced well in the Strikers’ third match of the day.
OH, Zaylee Werth Zaylee Werth 6'0" | OH Hillsboro | 2024 State KS , 6’1”, Hillsboro – Werth is a big-time hitter. The Hillsboro freshman knows how to fill up a stat sheet. In the match, I watched she had six kills, six digs, and five serve receptions. She is a tall six-rotation player who will be one to watch.
S, Keira Mullen, 5’8”, Smoky Valley – Muller is a high-energy setter. She can also play the right side, but unless she has a growth spurt left in her, the setter position is where her future lies. She had three digs and one kill in the Strikers two-set win.
OH, Savannah Shahan, 5’11”, Hillsboro – Shahan has the best serve on this team. She can flat out crush the ball and put it on a line. She finished the third match with four service aces, five kills, six digs, and three serve receptions. She is a hustle player who can play on both rows.
RS, Adrian Hazelwood, 5’10”, Smoky Valley – Hazelwood is a raw talent with a high ceiling. She had five digs, two serve receptions, and two kills. She can set and hit, and might just the most versatile player on this team. It will be interesting to see what role she grows into for her high school squad.
MH, Tinley Scott, 5’8”, Smoky Valley – Scott had a solid third match for the Strikers. She had four digs, one block, and one kill. Scott has a solid serve and she will help form a solid Class of 2023 for the Smoky Valley program.
The SV Strikers 15-1 have been the top-ranked 15U Select team for seven straight weeks and won the Keeper of The Plains tournament earlier in the club season.
