Rachel Hennessy (Hudson Catholic)
Hennessy’s game looked effortless in the semifinals as Hudson Catholic moved into the sectional final. She kept Mount St. Dominic off-balance defensively as she continued to spread the ball around. Her IQ is off the charts and it was on full-display in the semifinals where she had 17 assists. Don’t forget her pinpoint accuracy too.
Sarah Wilhelm (Rutgers Prep)
Wilhelm was the catalyst as Rutgers Prep’s improbable run continues in a victory over Our Lady of Mercy. She contributed everyway imaginable to ensure victory. She had 4 kills, 2 blocks, 6 digs, 8 assists and 6 aces. She willed Rutgers Prep to victory with her all-around play. If Rutgers Prep can finish off this crazy run it will be because of Wilhelm’s versatility.
Mia Moscicki (Shawnee)
Moscicki’s swing was on point all-match long in the semifinals. She was creative with her angles to ensure a higher chance of a kill where she had 14 kills on the day. She was a solid passer on the day as well with 9 digs. She gave her and her team an opportunity to be champs and she will need to carry them again to do so.
Kiara Salme (Lyndhurst)
Lastly, we have Salme. Salme was the anchor of the Lyndhurst defense to attempt to slow down Nicole Dallara and Hasbrouck Heights down which she did. Salme’s court position was immaculate to ensure she was in the right spot to make plays as she finished with 17 digs in the match. She even showed a couple glimpses of her offensive prowess for good measure with 5 kills.
