The Prep Dig Sizzle, a tournament for high school team is off to a hot start with teams across the state where some have plenty of loaded resumes from the past couple seasons, returning key players who will make a big impact for the 2021 season. Let’s take a look.

Returning State Tournament Teams
McFarland
Edgewood
Lakeside Lutheran
Luxemburg-Casco
Waterloo
Prentice
These teams all had an interesting route to the state tournament with McFarland making it to the final four of D1 in the spring alternate season while Edgewood advanced to the D2 Fall season, but was unable to compete in the semifinals due to a covid protocol. Luxemburg-Casco will head into 2021 as the two-time defending D2 state champions where they defeated Lakeside Lutheran in the D2 Championship. Waterloo will be back after back-to-back state tournament appearances, finishing second last fall. The Pirates will be without Brooke Mosher Brooke Mosher 5'11" | S Waterloo | 2021 State WI (Illinois) and Joslin Wolf (UW-Oshkosh) who were big pieces to their success, but will return a strong lineup that includes Michaela Riege Michaela Riege 5'7" | DS/L Waterloo | 2022 State WI , Rylee Duessler Rylee Duessler 5'9" | OH Waterloo | 2023 State WI , and Sophia Schneider Sophia Schneider 5'10" | S Waterloo | 2023 State WI . By the time of the Sizzle in mid-July, there will be more to add to the list. As college camps are opening back up, Division 1 colleges are able to recruit live starting June 4, and the Class of 2023 will start their recruiting process, there will be more athletes making their decision as to where they will be playing their college ball. The Sizzle will be happy to welcome college coaches into the doors of the Champion Center with plenty of college level talent in the building.
Knocking On The Door – Fox Valley Lutheran and Freedom
We have programs that are definitely on the rise and looking to take that next step. The summer will be a key time for teams to build their chemistry heading into the high school season. Fox Valley Lutheran out of Appleton was in the sectional final of Division 1 this past fall before losing to Sauk Prairie. The Foxes have a deep roster of athletes who can contribute at every position. They are in the same conference and sectional as Freedom and Luxemburg-Casco.
Conference Rivals and Different Divisions
Wisconsin Lutheran and Pewaukee will both be attending the Sizzle. These two have a long history from the Woodland Conference in the Milwaukee area. Wisco went to the state tournament in Division 2 in 2019 where they lost to Luxemburg-Casco in the semifinals and Pewaukee was a senior dominated team who had a strong 2020 campaign. A small plot twist for 2021 is that Pewaukee heading to D2 and Wisconsin Lutheran moving up to D1 for sectional play.
Spots are Still Open! What is the format?
The Prep Dig Sizzle Varsity Division will be made of three waves where teams will get three matches each day of competition. We will factor in the competition level of the teams, putting them together with teams of similar competition levels while also doing our best to accommodate any travel needs for teams competing.
