Players are putting teams on their backs to carry them as far as they can take them. As we have wrapped up another week in the season, let’s take notice of some players who showcased their talent.
Justin Hong (Ridge)
Hong was a difference maker this week in a jam-packed week for Ridge. They played four games in five days including three in a row to wrap up the week. Hong made an impact in every game and even though the team went 2-2, he left it all on the court. He finished with 59 kills on the week. He’s a smart outside hitter and changes his spin, arm angle and court position to give him different ways to rack up kills.
Nick Schon (Old Bridge)
If you want to watch a guy who has an their fingerprint on basically every play, look no further than Schon. He’s a very accurate setter but he’s surprisingly more deceptive than one may think. In Old Bridge, four matches this week he had 102 assists including 40 in one match against East Brunswick. The also went unbeaten for good measure. He has all the tools so don’t be shocked if these stunning numbers continue.
Ryan Tweedale (Colts Neck)
How about defense? Well, Tweedale had himself a week defensively. His anticipation is what makes him a solid back row as he almost knows where the ball is going before it’s hit. Tweedale led Colts Neck to a 2-1 record this week along with 24 digs in a two-set victory over Freehold Borough.
Vinil Shah (Hillsborough)
Lastly, we have Shah from Hillsborough. The athletic outside hitter continues to rise his game to new heights especially this week. He improved statistically as the week went on to finish with 39 kills and 17 digs in three matches. He loves to go out and be the one who scores for the squad but he is not afraid to play some defense. He’s an all-around outside with still plenty of room to grow.
