Here are four 2023 Region 8 defensive specialists on the rise.
Brooklyn Boren (2023) is a defensive specialist from South Oldham High School. Quick, Boren digs and pursues well. With a diverse skill set, Boren can hit consistently from both the back row and the front row while being an energetic defensive player.
Rylee Hood (2023) is a defensive specialist/right side from Simon Kenton High School. Athletic, Hood possesses quality defensive and passing skills. Hood is quick reacting and delivers both defensively and offensively.
Avery Hornbeck (2023) is a defensive specialist from Williamstown High School. Hornbeck is an experienced back row hitter who can contribute regularly in multiple categories. Agile, Hornbeck has displayed solid back control skills and can produce as a server.
Courtney Ruark (2023) is a defensive specialist from Grant County High School. Ruark has produced in the categories of digging and passing throughout the first half of her high school volleyball career. Poised for a breakout season, Ruark will be among the key players for Grant County during the 2021 high school volleyball season.
