Continue ReadingSome athletes have always been the top dog and made the top teams. They’ve been the ones to watch and standouts since they started playing the game. Everyone develops at a different rate and peaking early or slowly with steady development both have their perks. Around this time last year these names were barely a blip on our radar. Here are a few players who made a statement this past weekend at the Prep Dig Battle In The Valley. They are making a name for themselves and establishing themselves as players on the rise.
Anna Jamroz – 2022 – Libero – Neenah – FVP G18 Blue
Jamroz has been a tough defender for Neenah High School and continues to improve. As a libero, she has a solid platform with control and anticipates well. She’s been a DS for Neenah squad, but with the graduation of the libero, she has an opportunity to take on the role. Jamroz also has a wicked serve with a lot of movement to it that really takes teams out of system.
Aubrey Berlowski Aubrey Berlowski OH Kettle Moraine | 2023 State WI – 2023 – 5’10 – Outside Hitter – Kettle Moraine – Midwest Penguins 16 Black
Berlowski does a really nice job mixing up her shots from the outside where she can rip it down the line or she can go for the roll and find an open spot. Both Berlowski and Mya Trafficante Mya Trafficante 5'7" | OH Sussex-Hamilton | 2023 State WI connect extremely well with setters Ava Clinton-Ragonese Ava Clinton-Ragonese S Oconomowoc | 2023 WI and Marisa Johanning. Berlowski will be a junior next fall for Kettle Moraine.
Carizma Muth Carizma Muth 5'10" | OH Randolph | 2023 State WI – 2023 – 6’0 – Pin Hitter – Randolph – Madison United 16 Red
Muth is not new on the radar, but she definitely made a statement at the Prep Dig Battle In The Valley playing with Madison United 16 Red. After a breakout season at Randolph and a strong club season so far, Muth is declaring herself as a top point scorer on the pins. She has the adaptability and power to score points in a range of circumstances. Muth has a violent swing and brings a ton of energy to her team, making her a player who should be highly sought after to play at the next level.
Elise Gillen Elise Gillen 5'9" | S Slinger | 2022 State WI – 2022 – 5’9 – Setter – Slinger – Wisconsin Premier 17 Teal
Gillen is from the Class of 2022 and could be the next setter at Slinger where they will graduate Alyse Driftka. She led the Owls this past season as an outside hitter, but has been exceedingly consistent this club season as the setter running a 5-1 for Wisconsin Premier 17 Teal. Gillen has really developed as an all-around player who can run offense and control the game. She can throw the ball from pin to pin, hustle to bring back a shanked pass, and run the court with confidence.
Gabriella Magee Gabriella Magee MB Homestead | 2022 State WI – 2022 – 5’10 – Middle Blocker – Homestead – Wisconsin Premier 17 Teal
Magee sets a great block and has a powerful swing. The 5’10 Homestead prep jumped out at the Prep Dig Battle In The Valley this past weekend with her ability to nail the corners. Magee continues to develop her game at the net and is more than just a solid blocker.
Halie Kapelke – 2024 – Middle Blocker – Onalaska – V-Hawk Xtreme 16-Adidas
Kapelke is a dynamic player having a really high contact point and long reach. She does a nice job working around the block and finding the corners. She is a Class of 2024 prospect from Onalaska High School and was really key to the success of V-Hawk on day 1 of the Battle In The Valley.
Mya Trafficante Mya Trafficante 5'7" | OH Sussex-Hamilton | 2023 State WI – 2023 – 5’6 – Outside Hitter – Hamilton – Midwest Penguins 16 Black
Trafficante plays alongside Berlowski where she was a big point scorer for MWP on the pin. Trafficante saw some court time this past fall for Hamilton who won the Division 1 State Tournament. She has a huge vertical and can put some pop on the ball to score points. This gritty athlete could be a key point scorer heading into her junior year for the Chargers who will graduate some fire power but will be looking to make a return trip to the state tournament.
