Continue ReadingWe are almost to the end of the high school season as the seeding and brackets for the State Tournament has been officially released. The boys tournament will look much different than the girls tournament as the boys will only be played in four groups total unlike the girls where there were four sections for five groups.
Also, unlike the girls where there was only sectional champs crowned, the boys will crown a state champion. The winner of each group will be moved to a semifinal where they will face off to figure out who will be the champion. The group tournaments will start Tuesday, May 25th with a play-in round and conclude Wednesday, June 9th with the final four teams to compete that next weekend.
The seeds and brackets have been released let’s take a look at the top four seeds of each group.
North 1 (33 teams)
Fair Lawn (1 seed), West Milford (2 seed), Jefferson (3 seed), Bergenfield (4 seed)
North 2 (26 teams)
Kearny (1 seed), Payne Tech (2 seed), Scotch Plains-Fanwood (3 seed), Newark East Side (4 seed)
Central (29 teams)
Christian Brothers (1 seed), Old Bridge (2 seed), Hunterdon Central (3 seed), Hillsborough (4 seed)
South (33 teams)
Southern (1 seed), Williamstown (2 seed), Rancocas Valley (3 seed), Moorestown (4 seed)
