Continue ReadingWhat has been a shortened club volleyball season is coming to an end in Seattle but the best was arguably saved for the last with the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship set to take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center from June 26-July 5.
The event is expected to attract more than 700 teams in the 15 divisions for clubs from 15s to 17s and the state of Washington will be among the participants with at least 17 teams entered to appear in the event.
Between now the stating serve on June 26, we’ll take a look in each of those teams, recapping their club season and pointing out the players you would want to follow in the tournament.
DaKine Warriors 17 Surf
One of the strongest clubs in the region and a staple in the Tacoma area, DaKine Warriors Volleyball Club will be represented by 17 Surf in the 17 National division in Las Vegas. Head coach Joseph Holland has an interesting collection of talent to work and he’s done a good job with it, securing a 26-18 win record so far in the season. The team dominated the PSR Power League and also won the region’s bid tournament.

Players to Watch
Kristeen Copeland – Middle Blocker – HS: Auburn Riverside – 2022
One of the top middle blockers in the entire state, Kristeen ‘Krisee’ Copeland has been a stub in club and high school volleyball in Washington. She does a great job in utilizing her 6’1” frame to be a factor at the net both on offense and blocking. Her offensive game is somewhat simple but very efficient as Copeland can turn virtually any set into a point thanks to her
Kate Piasecki – Setter – HS: Charles Wright – 2022
Kate Piasecki has been a stats monster over the last high school volleyball seasons in Washington with Charles Wright. Her numbers with the team include a whopping 923 assists, 366 digs and 125 kills, a compilation that shows how complete and well-rounder her game is. A six-footer, Piasecki also plays beach volleyball and is one of those players who are able to do it all on the court. She could literally play any position she wanted, but decided to be a setter and does a great job in running DaKine 17 Surf’s offense.
Eva Atkins – Right Sider/Middle Blocker – HS: Roosevelt – 2022
Originally a middle blocker, Eva Atkins successfully transitioned to the right with DaKine 17 Surf. In the new position, she can use her 6’2” frame to make damage on offense as an extremely solid hitter with tremendous reach. Atkins has a big high school season with Roosevelt in 2019, registering 210 kills and 97 blocks alone. She has a great connection with Piasecki and is the one the setter typically turns to in crucial moments of matches.
