It is an exciting time for these players, their coaches, and their families after missing out on this opportunity a year ago. The festivities will begin on Friday, July 2nd, and conclude on July 5th. Here are the Missouri teams participating in the American division.
417 Juniors 16-1
How did they get here? Runner up finish in HOA Regional tournament
Other notes: 5th in Power League, 9th at Show Me
417 has been competitive this spring and looks to carry this over to nationals. After a 5th place finish in a gauntlet of a Power League, they are ready to take their place to another level next week. Libero Emma Conrad Emma Conrad 5'0" | DS/L Nixa | 2023 State MO is a treat to watch in the back row. She is a ball magnet and gets in position to make plays. Grace O’Reilly Grace O’Reilly 6'0" | RS Springfield Catholic | 2023 State MO looked good on the pin the times we saw them in action. . Setter Lauren Tyler has been smooth and steady running the show. In the middle, Hillary Estes, Claire Esther, and Jordan Porter are players who have platooned the front row. Madison Golmen and Abby Chadwell have seen time on the pins.
Invasion 16-1
How did they get here? 3rd place in HOA Regional tournament
Other notes:11th in Power League, 17th at Show Me
Invasion’s 3rd place regional effort was just enough to allow them to punch their ticket to nationals. Defense is a staple with this team and we saw that in action over the course of the year. Allene Puetz is a standout defensively and will lead the charge in the back row along with Addisen Dorsey. Kori Franklin brings good height to the front row and has been able to contribute both offensively and defensively. Gabriella Ricci and Ashlie Spiegel are solid pins on this team and build a good front line with Alli Poage and the before-mentioned Franklin. SetterShelby Gartner is another player who has grown over the 2021 campaign.
HPSTL 16 Orange
How did they get here? Gateway Bid
Other notes: 2nd Windy City, 5th MEQ, 15th Show Me
16 Orange took care of business at the Gateway Bid tournament to earn their berth to Las Vegas. They were close at Windy City with a runner-up finish. They also put themselves in contention at MEQ. Pin Phoenix Dean had a good showing at the Show Me Qualifier both offensively and defensively with numerous blocks. Setter Sophia Shaver moves the ball around well and shows great poise in tight matches. Middle Tayah Burnett has shown she can do many things on the court. As an undersized middle, she uses her athleticism and explosiveness to score points. She has also displayed a tough serve and solid back-row defense.
