We take a look at some 2022’s that are not that well known in the volleyball scene, however, have out of the park talents that should be brought to the front line.
Zoe Watts Zoe Watts 5'9" | OH De LaSalle | 2022 IL – De LaSalle
Watts is one of those athletes that bring forth everything that she has and gives it a go. Watts is a very powerful player and her ability to jump and swing on the ball is impressive and out of this world to watch. Watts shows the skill sets that she learned and definitely shows that she has a solid foundation and set of fundamental skills. The thing that stands out about Watts is her strength. She is a all around player and her strength is the key to her success. Her physical and mental ability to fight through what she is challenged with is something that is shown on the floor and catches your attention on the type of athlete Watts is.
Liana Tolliver- Youngker High School (AZ)
Tolliver is another athlete that has a specific set of skills that catch your eye. Being able to watch Tolliver in person, allows you to explore the type of athlete she is physically and mentally on the court. Tolliver stands at 5’8″ and her ability to jump and have a strong, consistent swing is impressive. She is able to work on point with her routing setters and allows for herself to bring forth the strength that she has.
Dyani Green- Wendell Phillips High School
Green is an athlete I enjoy watching. Green is an athlete that brings everything on her shoulders, out onto the court and shows that through her performance. Sh is a very defensive player and works well with her team to defend the ball. Green’s strong suit is her ability to be a strong hitter and have the ability to ease off that strength and be soft on the ball when it comes to reflecting the ball and bringing it back into play. I am impressed by the demeanor that Green has on the court and her actions off court. She is focused both on the court and off the court, and shows outstanding sportsmanship to her team when standing on the sidelines which is important when it comes to being a team player.
Aniyah Davis- Proviso East
Davis stood out tremendously when I had the opportunity to watch her complete her skill drills. I have had the opportunity to see Davis perform in action with 6 on 6 play, but being able to see her up close and her efficiency on her drills, sculpted how strong her fundamental skills are and her foundation that she has and received. Davis is a strong player on the court. She stands at 5’11” and still has the ability to get up and get that ball over the net with the strong swing that she has. I like Davis’ energy on the court. She is fast, quick and willing to work with everyone she comes in contact with.
Juliana Cruz- Cretin Derham Hall
Cruz is an outstanding defender and her defensive is impressive. Standing at 5’5″, Cruz is a powerful defender and is powerful on the court. She moves across the court swift and quick and follows the ball. Cruz is a very vocal athlete, which is good when she is on the court. She calls for the ball and never fails make an effort to reflect the ball. Cruz has a solid foundation on defending and a strong understanding on her position on the court. Cruz is a key factor and key player when it comes to moving the ball around the court and making sure that the ball does not touch the floor.
