There are plenty of setters who will be competing in the 17s Divisions that started play today and will conclude Friday. Some of these athletes are from the Class of 2023 and having been playing up an age all season. Take note, these athletes would be a great pick up at the next level.
Cameron Berger – Vital Volleyball 17-1 Gold
Vital Volleyball 17-1 out of the Eden Prairie, MN area in the SW suburbs of Minneapolis has had a really strong season competing against the top clubs in the country. Berger, the Class of 2023 prospect, has been the quarterback of this team where she is able to hit all the tempos and brings a really athletic style to the court. She has been going to Iowa State commit, Lilly Wachholz Lilly Wachholz 6'2" | MB Mayer Lutheran | 2022 State #42 Nation MN and physical middle, Kendall Minta Kendall Minta 6'3" | MB Eden Prairie | 2022 State MN . Vital Volleyball will be looking to play some big matches come day three to have an opportunity to compete in the gold bracket on Friday.
Maddie Converse Maddie Converse 5'10" | S Kasson-Mantorville | 2022 State MN – Mizuno Northern Lights 17-1
Converse is accustomed to the big stage when she was the starting setter for Kasson-Mantorville as a Freshman while they finished in the four of Class AA in Minnesota. She will have a busy couple of weeks, competing at AAU Nationals and then heading to Vegas for USAV 17 Open. Converse has trained and competed at a high level throughout high school and club, having textbook fundamentals and extremely positive intangibles.

Elle Cotton Elle Cotton 6'0" | S Elk River | 2022 State MN – MN Select 17-1
Cotton has been part of a MN Select 17-1 squad who is absolutely on fire heading into the national tournaments. This team will also compete in Orlando and has a big for 17 Open in Vegas as well. Cotton is a true gem that can do a little bit of everything and can be extremely effective at the net blocking, attacking, and finding an open attacker. This team is a dangerous matchup and will be looking to knock off more national powers over the next two weeks.
Ella Kiebel Ella Kiebel 5'8" | S Maple Lake | 2022 State MN – Mizuno Northern Lights 17-2
Great feet, smooth hands, and the ability to go from pin to pin, Kiebel is always looking to jump set to keep the tempo running. With great court sense, she can hold the middle to set either pin, creating one on one matchups. This 17-2 squad will also compete in Vegas in the 17 USA Division.
Megan Margolis – Sky High 17-1 NS
I was able to see Margolis play at the Prep Dig Gauntlet at the Milwaukee Sting Center over Memorial Day weekend. Margolis runs a 5-1 where she is really athletic to make plays happen. This Sky High squad had a huge weekend at the Gauntlet where they defeated Burlington United twice, an undefeated RVA squad before falling to a tough Sting White squad in the finals.
Paige Yelmene Paige Yelmene 5'8" | S DSHA | 2022 State WI – 414 Milwaukee Elite 17 Elite
Yelmenne is a key part to 414 Milwaukee Elite where she can get her hands to the ball and put her attackers in position to score. Her quickness is key as well as her ability to scramble to make plays happen. 414 won the JVA Jamboree in Milwaukee early May and is always a dangerous matchup.
Cadence Maxfield Cadence Maxfield 5'8" | S Notre Dame Academy | 2022 State WI – Impact 17 National
Maxfield was an Honorable Mention All State setter for Notre Dame Academy out of Green Bay this past alternate high school season in April. Maxfield definitely brings a physicality and athletic style to the net where she is not afraid to take it on the second contact as well as put up a solid block.
Andrea Bortulin Andrea Bortulin 5'4" | S Luther Prep | 2022 State WI and Jenna Pistono Jenna Pistono 5'8" | S Sauk Prairie | 2023 State WI – Madison United 17 Red
Bortulin and Pistono are a solid combo when it comes to setting the Madison United 17 Red squad. Bortulin is from the Class of 2022 and Pistono is a 2023 prospect. They both run the middles extremely well with Mackenzie Gruner and Ella DeNoyer. Their scrappy edge to their game will save them points and create many scoring opportunities.
The connection between Ellie Connor Ellie Connor 5'8" | S DSHA | 2023 State WI and her middles Abby Savatski Abby Savatski 6'1" | MB Mukwonago | 2022 State WI and Morgan Neitzel Morgan Neitzel MB Heritage Christian | 2022 State WI has been a gamechanger all weekend. Ellie Connor Ellie Connor 5'8" | S DSHA | 2023 State WI – RVA 17 Navy
Connor keeps it really simple. She has great hands where she knows how find the open attacker. She connects extremely well with middles Abby Savatski Abby Savatski 6'1" | MB Mukwonago | 2022 State WI (Winona State) and Morgan Neitzel Morgan Neitzel MB Heritage Christian | 2022 State WI . A solid defender as well, Connor will be key to the success of RVA who has been playing with plenty of momentum the past month.
Rebecca Siedenburg Rebecca Siedenburg S Kettle Moraine | 2022 State WI – Motion MVP ‘ last=”] 17 Blue
Siedenburg is a real exciting player where she moves so quickly on the court and can contribute in plenty of ways for her MVP ‘ last=”] team out of the Milwaukee area. She puts up a great ball, but can also keep up the tempo for her squad. She will run the show for Kettle Moraine High School this fall who will be a strong contender in Wisconsin’s largest class.
