Also graduating for the Tigers in 2021 were Ashlyn Brownlee (RS) and Brooke Berg(OH).
These seniors will definitely be missed from the Tiger bench in 2021, but there are so many athletes still left on their roster they should be able to fill the holes left by graduation. Let’s look at the rest of the roster and see who has some stats and experience from last year to help them be strong in the coming year.
RETURNING PLAYERS:
Lydia Greiman (2022, S)
Greiman played in all 59 sets for the Tigers in her junior season and contributed a team-high 6.5 APS(382), 6 kills, 14 total blocks, 1.3 DPS(75), and 24 service aces with a 97.7% serve efficiency. It is great that Griswold will have their starting setter returning for the next season.
Brenna Rossell (2022, RS)
Rossell played in all 59 sets for the Tigers in 2020 and had 5 assists, 1.1 KPS(65), 5 total blocks, 2.3 DPS(137), and a team-high 26 service aces with a 92.3% serve efficiency.
Anna Kelley (2022, L)
Kelley played in 58 of 59 sets for the Tigers last fall and had 4 assists, 1 kill, a team-high 4.0 DPS(233), and 22 service aces with a 96.3% serve efficiency.
Also returning for the Tigers for the 2021 season are Grace Cook (2022, RS), Erynn Peterson (2023, S), Makenna Askeland (2023, DS), McKenna Wiechman (2023, OH), Emma Mundorf (2023, MH), Whitney Pennock (2024, OH), Carolina Arcia (2024, S), Carley Danker (2024, MH), Linsey Keiser (2024, DS), Lyndi Mueller (2024, MH), Makena Harry (2024, RS), and Dakota Reynolds (2024, DS).
Griswold looks like they lost a lot in the number of seniors who graduated, but they have so many, without much varsity playing time, still on their roster, that it is difficult to imagine that they cannot build a team as good or better than last years. They just need good hitters from the 7 listed at the bottom of this article and even if only half of them are ready for varsity, they should be good. They have their starting setter and libero coming back and a good right-side hitter so they just need to fill out the back row, middles, and outsides to have a great season and they have all of those pieces on their roster today, not even counting on a surprise or two from their 2025s who are not listed here yet. I think this team could be better than last year’s team. Players that are hungry for playing time tend to go off their first year off of the bench and surprise all of us. Good luck, Tigers!
