The players with the most time on the court last season were Lineya Wells, Chloe Kramer, Riley Donahue, Taylor Drent, all of which played every set for the Black Raiders in 2020, Addie Harris, who played all but 2 sets, Alex Radcliff, who played 73 of 80, and Megan Callahan, who played 71 of 80. That means the Black Raiders lost three full-time starters this year to graduation.
GRADUATED:
Lineya Wells (OH)
Wells is so athletic and truly one of my favorite players to watch. Last season for the Black Raiders she contributed a team-high 2.7 KPS, 26 total blocks, 1.6 DPS, and 11 service aces.
Chloe Kramer (S)
Kramer had 6.2 APS, 9 kills, 16 total blocks, 1.6 DPS, and a team-high 40 service aces with an 88.4% serve efficiency.
Riley Donahue (OH)
Donahue contributed 1.9 KPS, 16 total blocks, 1.7 DPS, and 19 service aces with a 90.1% serve efficiency.
All three of these graduated players will be missed for their contributions to the Black Raiders. Also graduated were Bailey Holbrook (L), Emma Vlahoulis (L), Kaitlyn Stoos (DS), and Bailey Copple (MH).
RETURNING PLAYERS:
Megan Callahan (2022, DS)
Callahan had 27 assists, a team-high 3.5 DPS, 21 service aces with a 93.9% serve efficiency. She will be a great returnee for the Black Raiders’ back row.
Addie Harris (2022, MH)
Harris is a 6′ MH who contributed 1.3 KPS with a .236 efficiency, 55 total blocks, and 50 digs. It will be exciting to see what she can do her senior season.
Taylor Drent (2022, MH)
Drent is a 6′ MH for the Black Raiders and had 1.3 KPS with a .282 efficiency, a team-high 88 total blocks, 43 digs, and 15 service aces with an 88.3% serve efficiency. She is another returnee that should help her team recover from the loss of recent graduates.
Alex Radcliffe Alex Radcliffe 5'10" | OH Sioux City East | 2022 State IA (2022,OH)
Radcliffe scored 2.3 KPS with a .258 efficiency, 22 total blocks, 1.7 DPS, 11 service aces and 98.3% serve efficiency.
With the return of these four players, the Black Raiders have some pretty strong pieces returning to the court. They also have Lucy Mehlhaff (2022, S) returning and potentially taking a much bigger role as the setter, Avery Gomez (2022, MH), Kyley Vondrak (2022, RS), and Kayla Benson (2022, RS). With all of these athletes returning, count on Sioux City East to be a strong team again this coming season after replacing key pieces lost due to graduation.
