It will be exciting to see some well-known names establishing themselves even more in the Lone Star state volleyball scene and some new faces breaking through and quickly emerging to earn the spaces.
Between now and the start of the high school season, at the beginning of August, we’ll highlight some players we believe are worth your attention when teams get back on the gym. It’s time we take a look at some outside hitters who are true scoring machines in the University Interscholastic League (UIL) 4A Division.
Paige Crawford – HS: Wimberley – Club: San Antonio Juniors – 2022
A 6’1” outside hitter with a solid combination of power and technique is the dream of every coach and Wake Forest can consider themselves fortunate to have gotten exactly that in Paige Crawford. The prolific outside hitter had a tremendous season with Wimberley, producing 459 kills, 364 digs, 385 passes, 47 aces and 39 blocks and helping the Texans advancing all the way to the State Championship final, where they eventually lost to Decatur. Crawford, who’s also a stud for her club team San Antonio Juniors , was rewarded with her inclusion in both the All-Tournament team and the Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) All-State team.
Kaylee Peterson – HS: Decatur – Club: Muscle Volleyball – 2022
High-pressure situations are no big deal for Kaylee Peterson as last year she hit at impressive .438 to register eight kills and help Decatur secure the State Championship title with a victory over Wimberley. The 5’8” outside hitter is a genuine two-way player as she’s equally important to both her high school and club teams for the work she does on the backcourt or while at the net due to her rare combination of skills and raw athleticism. Last year’s championship-winning campaign with Decatur has led Peterson to make it to both the All-Tournament team and the Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) All-State team.
Kadyne Emmot – HS: China Spring – Club: NRG Volleyball – 2022
Kadyne Emmot’s all-around game is impressive to the point of her been China Spring’s second-best hitter in 2020 while also been its second-best setter. The 5’10”, left-handed prospect plays a hybrid role for the Cougars in which she hits and sets from the right side of the court. A long and powerful player, she excelled with her offense, being named to the Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) All-State second team as an outside hitter and also taking home the District MVP award.
