Continue ReadingThe offers for our wonderful Texas players keep coming. We love to see the pictures and news of these players as they are achieving their dreams. We are proud to announce some news from the recruiting front. There are three more players who have just committed to college volleyball programs recently and we would like to share the news. These young ladies have been hard at work during the high school volleyball season and have been also hard at work on the recruiting scene getting offers from schools and have made their decisions. Help us in congratulating them on the amazing news.
Sadie Swift Sadie Swift 6'1" | MB Austin | 2022 State TX [2022] 6-1 Middle (HS: Austin/Club: Roots/Verbal: North Carolina)
Sadie is currently listed as the 40th best overall prospect and the 9th ranked middle in the state in the 2022 Class. We wrote an article on her last year and stated the following, “A member of the 10 foot club already as a sophomore has a great career ahead of her. Playing for the Roots program, formerly Texas Eclipse Volleyball, she has been playing against the cream of the crop in Texas this past season in the famed Tour of Texas series of tournaments. She is still growing into her frame, but when it all comes together, watch out! She possesses extremely quick footwork to help her close out on both pins while blocking. The length in her arms make it hard for opponents to get through. She is one to watch moving forward. College coaches should definitely give this one a hard look.” We have been following her closely and she has been getting tons of looks all of last year. We are very pleased to announce that she recently chose to verbally commit to the University of North Carolina. She is a huge recruit for the Tarheels and they will love her the moment she steps on campus. Meanwhile we will enjoy watching her during her senior season as she prepares for the next level. Please congratulate her on her great accomplishment of playing at the next level.
Trinity Funderburk Trinity Funderburk 5'9" | S Atascocita | 2021 State TX [2021] 5-9 Setter (HS: Atascocita/Club: Houston Skyline/Verbal: Stephen F Austin)
Trinity is currently listed as the 65th best overall prospect and the 10th best setter in the state in the 2021 Class. We wrote an article on her recently and stated the following, “Miss Funderburk is a fantastic setter from the North Houston Area who plays at Atascocita High School and also for Houston Skyline Volleyball club. Last season on varsity Trin was a stud tallying 43 kills, 36 aces, 255 digs and dishing out 853 assists. This past season she was instrumental in leading them to a 17-7 overall record and a 9-3 record in district. There is not a set that Trinity cant make. This young lady is a fantastic setter that can absolutely help a college program. If there is a program that needs a true leader and workhorse, then look no further. She is a coach’s daughter and plays like an extension of her coach on the court. Her high school coach mentions her defensive abilities as being top notch. She actually told me that they once thought about putting her at libero once in her career because she is that good at the skill. Trinity’s teammates have voted her team MVP for the past three years and that says a lot about a player when their peers think that highly of them. We are excited to welcome her to the Prep Dig Rankings and we will speak to many college coaches about her.” It didn’t take long for this young lady to get picked up. This coach’s kid is a perfect fit for the lumberjacks as she brings tons a wealth of knowledge and superb leadership skills. Her high school coach raves about Trin and her overall volleyball skills and everyone who plays against her knows all too well what she is referring to. We are super excited for her and we hope that you all congratulate her on achieving her dreams of playing college volleyball.
Taisha Rhone [2022] 6-0 Outside (HS: Wilson/Club: Texas Image/Verbal: Lamar)
Taisha is currently unranked in the 2021 class according to our State Rankings. She plays for Woodrow Wilson High School and club for Texas Image. We are pleased to announce that she recently committed to playing volleyball at Lamar University. She is a wonderful outside from the North Texas area. This young lady is a true six rotation left side pin hitter who can fly. She has extremely long arms which help her in every facet of the game. She is able to extend out on defensive balls and showcase great range. They also help with her amazing blocking technique. She has the potential to be a stud blocker in college. High school blockers rarely stand a chance against her high touch point. Offensively she is able to cut the ball around a block very well, which helps her hitting efficiency. Recently her and her Texas Image 17 Black teammates just finished 11th at the USA Junior Nationals in Vegas in the American Division. We will enjoy watching her senior season at Wilson this year. Please help us congratulate her on achieving her dreams of playing sports at the next level.
