Here is a look at some athletes to keep an eye on in the C-2 Bracket:
Clarkson-Leigh: Chloe Hanel Chloe Hanel 5'11" | MB Clarkson/Leigh | 2024 State NE a 5’11″ MB (Class of 2024). Chloe plays years above her age. She was absolutely stellar in the semifinal match against Howells-Dodge in November where she had 11 kills in the win. She is strong, aggressive and super athletic! I loved her enthusiasm and leadership for being a freshman on the floor. She finished the season with 295 kills and 18 solo blocks. Look for her to have a huge breakout sophomore campaign!
Howells-Dodge: 6’1″ Grace Baumert Grace Baumert 6'2" | OH Howells-Dodge | 2023 State NE OH (Class of 2023). Grace is explosive and aggressive. She has great court vision as well and has the ability to take over a match. She finished the season for the Jaguars with 432 kills. Her older sister, Ellie, a 6’2″ Texas Tech commit, is so fun to watch at the setter position. She is quick and moves so well for her size. She plays at the net so well and feeds her sister on the pin, making for a dynamic duo.
Fullerton: Keep an eye on the Plumbtree sisters! 6’1″ Jordan Plumbtree Jordan Plumbtree 6'0" | MB Fullerton | 2022 State NE MH (Class of 2022) is back for the Warriors. She is long and athletic! She finished the season with 184 kills and 24 solo blocks. Her sister 6’0″ McKenna RS (Class of 2024) had 125 kills and 45 blocks. Look for her to make huge growth from her freshman campaign! Both girls are strong, long and athletic!
Thayer Central: 5’10″ Jasa Wiedel Jasa Wiedel 5'10" | S Thayer Central | 2022 State NE (Class of 2022) Jasa has amazing court sense and is an offensive-minded setter. She is so strong when she sets the pin too. She had 474 set assists, 36 aces and 144 kills for the Titans last fall. Watch for her to have a stellar senior finale!
Hastings St. Cecilia: 6’2″ Addie Kirkegaard (Class of 2022) Addie had 308 kills, 20 solo blocks in her junior campaign. She is a great blocker and reads her hitters well. She is a big force in the middle for the Bluehawks as they are a yearly contender.
It should be a great week in Kearney for the tournament and will give us a glimpse of what the season could be like!
