The inaugural edition of the program will take place in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from July 26-28, right between the 2021 National Beach Tour Junior Championship (July 10-15) and the Beach High Performance Championship (July 29-31).
Players aged from 14 to 18 were selected and more than 100 athletes were named for the roster. The coaching staff that will be working with girls includes several former AVP and international beach volleyball players such as John Mayer, Brooke Niles, Stein Metzger and Derek Olson.
Bailey Showalter – HS: Mount Si – Club: DaKine Warriors – 2022
A 6’1” prospect, Bailey Showalter has great future as a beach volleyball player. She moves really well on the sand and is able to hit the ball with a lot of power from the left or the right. She’s a very smart blocker too, with perfect timing and body control at the net. An outside hitter on her high school team Mount Si, she masters skills some other blockers don’t such as passing and digging. Showalter has already been scooped by one of the top collegiate programs in the country in USC.
Piper Ferch – HS: Redmond – Club: DaKine Warriors – 2021
Despite her outstanding vertical, the 5’9” Piper Ferch is more suited to a defensive role in beach volleyball. Her defensive skills are top-notch and she has what it takes to reach the next level playing behind a strong blocker. Because of her athleticism, Ferch, who also competed in volleyball and track and field for her high school Redmond, is excellent in transition. She has enjoyed some success in national tournaments, winning the U16 Seattle AVP Gold Championship in 2019 and finishing third in the U16 AVP National Championships in Hermosa Beach that same year. She’ll soon be coached by Beijing 2008 Olympic champion Todd Rogers at Cal Poly.
