Here’s a closer look at the top 10 middles in our latest update.
1. Abigail Reck Abigail Reck 6'2" | MB Northville | 2023 State #74 Nation MI , Northville/Legacy: Reck definitely knew how to wreck opponents’ hopes this past club season, as she was a very big piece to Legacy’s national championship. Now she comes into the prep season looking to show how she can take over a match.
2. Laurece Abraham Laurece Abraham 6'1" | MB Country Day | 2023 State #111 Nation MI , Country Day/Legacy: Abraham was also part of that championship Legacy squad and was very instrumental in the championship match. A Yale commit, Abraham has continued to make strides in her game and has the explosiveness to be the best of the best.
3. Kam Burbridge Kam Burbridge 6'1" | MB Grand Haven | 2023 State MI , Grand Haven/MVA: Burbridge was a big climber in our latest rankings as she has really found a new level to her play. She’s showing great instincts on the court and uses her length very effectively on offense and defense.
4. Olivia Gardner Olivia Gardner 6'2" | MB Dakota | 2023 State MI , Dakota/Legacy: Gardner has really branched out and shown an improved all-around game, with solid serving and defense. Middle is still her strong suit, but he diverse skillset makes her a big asset for potential college programs.
5. Aubreigh Oswald Aubreigh Oswald 6'2" | MB Lowell | 2023 State MI , Lowell/FaR Out: Oswald missed the 2020 prep season due to injury, so this year could be her chance to really reestablish herself. She showed a lot of promise as a freshman and has to be eager to get back to being a big contributor for the Red Arrows this fall.
6. Neele’ge’ Sims, Corunna/Michigan Elite: Sims has had to overcome a lot in the last year, but it’s been great to see her return to the court and perform so well this summer. She has effortless liftoff from the floor and delivers some of the strongest kills at the position. She also keeps her eyes on the defense and finds the opening on the floor.
7. Raegan Lantz Raegan Lantz 6'1" | OH West Ottawa | 2023 State MI , West Ottawa/MVA: Lantz really uses his length well, able to delay some of her attacks to fool the defense, while still delivering with velocity. She’s very active on the floor and never seems to tire.
8. Makenzie Ritsema Makenzie Ritsema 6'0" | MB Grand Rapids Christian | 2023 State MI , Grand Rapids Christian/MVA: Ritsema could be in for a breakout year as she gets a chance to really shine for GRC this fall. She makes her attacks look effortless, but also looks like she could dial up the real heat when she needs to. Expect her name to pick up steam this year.
9. Emily May Emily May 6'1" | OH Coopersville | 2023 State MI , Coopersville/Inside Out: May is converting more to an outside hitter for Coopersville, but has made her name at middle. She’s got a wealth of potential and has worked hard to become a complete player. She’s got the size, speed and determination to be great.
10. Natalie Pannucci Natalie Pannucci 5'11" | MB North Muskegon | 2023 State MI , North Muskegon: Pannucci is a three-sport athlete that brings that great athleticism to the middle position. She just has a knack for finishing points and making plays. As she continues to improve on her technique, she could become unstoppable.
