For the 16U age bracket, the top five finishers were…
#1 OJVA 16-1 National
#2 NPJ 16 Forefront
#3 OJVA 16-2 National
#4 G3 16-1 National
#5 Athena 16-1 Gold
For the first time this season, I had the opportunity to go watch these teams compete in person. I will be spotlighting the athletes from 2022, 2023, and 2024, who were an impact in their position and made an impression when watching.
MIDDLE BLOCKERS
Hailey Heytvelt, 6’1”, MB, LaSalle Catholic College Preparatory, Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy
Heytvelt is an athletic middle blocker who brought the heat during Regionals for the OJVA 15-1 National team. When attacking she does a great job with getting her maximum reach on the swing. She moves on the court with ease and is very quick in transition.
Heytvelt was the sole freshman to make varsity at LaSalle Catholic College Preparatory and saw court time as one of their middle blockers
Heytvelt is currently not committed to a school for the fall of 2024.
Lilly Lansing Lilly Lansing 5'11" | RS Jesuit | 2024 State OR , 6’0”, MB, Jesuit High School, Athena Volleyball Academy
Lansing was a dominant force in the middle for the Athena 15-1 National team. She is athletic and moves with ease on the court. She is physically a very strong and powerful attacker. She also brings a tough serve to the service line.
As a freshman, she made the junior varsity team at Jesuit High School, a volleyball powerhouse program.
Lansing is currently not committed to a school for the fall of 2024.
Annabelle Peterson Annabelle Peterson 5'9" | MB Cascade | 2024 State OR , 5’9”, OH/MB, Cascade High School, North Pacific Juniors
Peterson was a formidable force in the middle for the NPJ 15-1 National team. Although listed as an outside hitter on their roster, I watched her play in the middle, and she made her presence known. She is a bouncy attacker with a strong arm swing.
Peterson made the varsity team at Cascade High School, one of two freshmen to make the squad.
Peterson is currently not committed to a school for the fall of 2024.
