#3 OJVA 16-2 National
#4 G3 16-1 National
#5 Athena 16-1 Gold
For the first time this season, I had the opportunity to go watch these teams compete in person. I will be spotlighting the athletes from 2022, 2023, and 2024, who were an impact in their position and made an impression when watching.
SETTERS
Hannah Brown Hannah Brown 5'8" | S Sherwood | 2024 State OR , 5’8”, S, Sherwood High School, Athena Volleyball Academy
Brown typically ran a 6-2 with 2023 setter Sophie Fast Sophie Fast 5'9" | S Tualatin | 2023 State OR and did an exceptional job doing so for the Athena 15-1 Gold team. She has great natural hand strength and is able to push the ball to the pins effortlessly. She brings an infectious positive attitude to the court, always hyping up her teammates.
Brown was one of two freshmen to make the varsity team at Sherwood High School.
Brown is currently not committed to a school for the fall of 2024.
Taylor DeTrant Taylor DeTrant 5'8" | S McNary | 2024 State OR , 5’7”, S/DS, McNary High School, North Pacific Juniors
Detrant could be seen running a 5-1 or running a 6-2 with fellow 2024 setter Bella Oliver for the NPJ 15-1 National team. She is a natural leader with an infectious positive attitude on and off the court. She does a great job keeping her sets consistent and identifying key hitters in key moments of the match.
Detrant made the junior varsity team as a freshman at McNary High School, a team that went undefeated in play.
Detrant is currently not committed to a school for the fall of 2024.
Olivia Doel Olivia Doel 5'7" | S West Linn | 2024 State OR , 5’7”, S, West Linn High School, Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy
Doel typically ran a 6-2 with fellow 2024 setter Elisabeth Levick Elisabeth Levick 6'1" | S Glencoe | 2024 State OR for the OJVA 15-1 National team. She is quick and athletic, getting her hands on most everything. She is also an exceptional defender so keep the ball away from the right-back when she is on the court.
Doel was the lone freshman to make the varsity team at West Linn High School, a volleyball powerhouse program.
Doel is currently not committed to a school for the fall of 2024.
Alexis Haury Alexis Haury 5'10" | S Silverton | 2024 State #9 Nation OR , 5’10”, S, Silverton High School, North Pacific Juniors
Picked as the #1 recruit for the class of 2024 here in Oregon, it is no surprise that Haury is an impact on the club team she played on, NPJ 18-1 Forefront. Yep-the team that finished #1 in CEVA for 18U was fearlessly led by the 2024 phenom. She would either set a 5-1 or run 6-2 with 2021 Peyton Griffin Peyton Griffin 6'0" | S Jesuit | 2021 State OR (Cal State East Bay), for the team. Haury shoulders a lot of responsibility for a freshman but she did so with confidence. She does an exceptional job reading the blockers and putting her attackers in successful, one-on-one situations.
Haury was the lone freshman to make the varsity team at Silverton High School and saw court time as their starting setter.
Haury is currently not committed to a school for the fall of 2024.
Elisabeth Levick Elisabeth Levick 6'1" | S Glencoe | 2024 State OR , 6’0”, S/RS/OH, Glencoe High School, Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy
Levick typically ran a 6-2 with fellow 2024 setter Olivia Doel Olivia Doel 5'7" | S West Linn | 2024 State OR for the OJVA 15-1 National team. She brings athleticism and size to the setter’s position. She does a great job with setting her attackers up for success when out of system. Also, she has a hammer of an arm, which she uses from the right pin or outside pin. For this OJVA team, she typically stayed in across the front row as an attacker on the right side.
Levick was the lone freshman to make the varsity squad at Glencoe High School, and spent a majority of the season as an attacker. She was awarded Pacific Conference Second Team All-League.
Levick is currently not committed to a school for the fall of 2024.
Bella Oliver, 5’9”, SD/DS, Cascade High School, North Pacific Juniors
Oliver typically ran a 6-2 with fellow 2024 setter Taylor DeTrant Taylor DeTrant 5'8" | S McNary | 2024 State OR for the NPJ 15-1 National team. However, when not setting she was often put in to play back row for the right-side attacker. She is a leftie, so she can also be seen attacking, and thrives on the right side. She is becoming quite the all-around volleyball player.
Oliver was joined by two other freshmen on the varsity team at Cascade High School.
Oliver is currently not committed to a school for the fall of 2024.
Delainy Williams Delainy Williams 5'8" | S Central Catholic | 2024 State OR , 5’8”, S/RS, Central Catholic High School, Portland Volleyball Club
Williams was the lone setter on the Portland Volleyball Club’s 16-1 team, so she set a 5-1 the majority of the season. Williams is calm, determined, and competitive on the court. She keeps her sets consistent. A leftie with an impressive vertical, her setter dump is lethal.
Williams was the lone freshman to make the Central Catholic High School varsity team, a volleyball powerhouse program.
Williams is currently not committed to a school for the fall of 2024.
