It will be exciting to see some well-known names establishing themselves even more in the Lone Star state volleyball scene and some new faces breaking through and quickly emerging to earn the spaces.
Between now and the start of the high school season, at the beginning of August, we’ll highlight some players we believe are worth your attention when teams get back on the gym. In our last piece about the University Interscholastic League (UIL) 6A Division, we will list some of the most interesting middle blocker to play on it.
Kierstyn McFall Kierstyn McFall 6'4" | MB Klein | 2022 State #144 Nation TX – HS: Klein – Club: Houston Skyline – 2022
Kierstyn McFall Kierstyn McFall 6'4" | MB Klein | 2022 State #144 Nation TX was one of the top players in the entire division last year, when she helped taking Klein to the State Championship Final and was selected for both the All-Tournament team and the Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) All-State first team. A 6’4” middle blocker, McFall has a vastly developed game, which makes the most of her physical and technical tools. After ending last season with 184 kills and 54 blocks, she secured the sequence of her career at the collegiate level committing with the University of North Florida. She ranks 11th on our 2022 Prep Dig State Rankings.
Logan Lednicky Logan Lednicky 6'1" | RS George Ranch | 2022 State #133 Nation TX – HS: George Ranch – Club: Houston Skyline – 2022
Logan Lednicky Logan Lednicky 6'1" | RS George Ranch | 2022 State #133 Nation TX was teammates with McFall at Houston Skyline 17 Royal, where she was used as a right sider, a position in which she can make the most of her potent left arm. With her high school team George Ranch, she plays as a middle blocker and delivers strong performances as well. Last season, when she made it to the Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) All-State second team, the 6’2” Lednicky, who ranks 13th on our 2022 Prep Dig State Rankings, registered 263 kills, 173 digs and 77 blocks. She has committed the future of her career to Texas A&M.
Kate Hansen Kate Hansen 6'3" | MB Weatherford | 2023 State #67 Nation TX – HS: Weatherford – Club: Texas Advantage – 2023
Kate Hansen Kate Hansen 6'3" | MB Weatherford | 2023 State #67 Nation TX was part of Texas Advantage ‘s 16s team that recently won the Girls Junior National Championship in the Open division, also making it to the All-Tournament team. A 6’2” middle blocker, Hansen is very physical and efficient and performs at the same high level for high school team Weatherford. Last season, she was tremendous for the Kangaroos, notching 237 kills, 116 digs and 86 blocks and finding her way to the Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) All-State second team. She ranks 14th on our 2023 Prep Dig State Rankings.
